tried without success (did it last night)
phone is 6603 and only lights led to green briefly or blue (fastboot or flashboot as per instructions), it also buzz when holding power + vol up. Flash works (apparently according to logs on flashtool) but then nothing happens only red light when charging. Note that after soldering the cable it behaves same as before.
The other think that doesn't seem to work is trying to flash the kernel, where I get operation not permitted.
I can't say I have the same problem but have tried so many things that thought another one won't hurt as I have two batteries (bought another one thinking it was the culprit).
Thanks for your answer pampanz.I did the hardware fix that quickstyler posted today. It solved the problem of false battery stats, however it was the only problem i had.I did not had trouble with charging(i mean i had partially but since i did tap the back at the point of the battery connector to get rid of the -30)or not booting.I guess you problem is more complicated pampanz.Good luck finding solution. Also i want to thank quickstyler of the fix and guide.

I thought it was worth a try. My phone was working fine but the screen had a crack and a section of it had the touchscreen broken. When I replaced it initially it worked but then while completing the installation broke it again ... yeah I know :cyclops: ,anyway once I got the second screen put it together and that was it. Now my reasoning was since all the notifications are correct (blue led, buzz, green led, flashing seems to complete correctly) that out of removing the battery a few times while repearing the screen may have affected one of the connectors. However so far no luck. My other explanation is that because the second screen took forever to arrive (well over a month) that the battery may have drained, but bought a replacement battery which behaves exactly the same as the original

Works and still working, saved me from selling off at $ 120

thank you it works, my phone previously logged 45 Celsius but now logs 35 -40.
though the red light no power still does so at times, but not often any longer,

I also diy a desktop charger which has simplified the charging issues.

My friend Z's USB was broken somehow, so he went to a local mobile repairing shop(No sony center in our Country) where he got his USB port changed but the Phone is not charging nor detecting on a computer, phone is only charging via Dock so he went to the shop again. The repair guy tried changing multiple USB's but the phone is not picking up anything via USB, another repair guy suggests its a charging IC problem but how the phone is charging only via dock and not by USB. Can somebody guide me in this matter will this method work in his case ?

question

Hi, i have followed your post, according to the Xperia Z hardware fix. I could get my phone charged, but after 3hs of charging, i can not turn the phone on, even if it is connected to the AC Power, with the original cable and charger.
If i disconnect the TH pinpoint from the battery, it turns on, but continue looping. How can I fix this?
You said also that if the battery statistics doesn't get fixed, after this procedure, we should connect the EN pinpoint, but i do not understand where to connect it in the PCB.

Could you help me? I am very frustrated after 5 days trying to fix my phone!
Thanks in advance,
Alan

Problem: Xperia Z is not charging, not turning on, false battery stats or stuck in an non-software-caused bootloop... sometimes It's caused by a broken battery connector on the mainboard

try swapping battery first!

Ok guys... I present you...

XPERIA Z BATTERY BUG ***HARDWARE FIX***

It's a cheap n' dirty fix! Use at your own risk - I don't care if your house burned down because of this... :silly:

STEP 1 - Remove the Backcover (see this youtube video how to do it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNrtamZuf7E)
STEP 2 - Remove the Battery (Be very carefull not to crack your display doing this...)
STEP 3 - Bend Battery Connector Pins

STEP 4
- Get a very thin cable (eg. from a USB Cable you cut down) and a soldering iron
STEP 5 - Solder the cable to the battery pinpoint >> TH << and on to the testing pinpoint on the mainboard according to my images

Should look like this...

STEP 6 - Assemble everything together again and connect the phone to the original Sony Charger
STEP 7 - Wait 2-3h for the handset to be charged
STEP 8 *additional* - Boot up device and install Sony Mobile Battery Test from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/sony-mobile-battery-testing-app-version-t2527932 <--- (You can just take the .apk from the .rar file and install it)

STEP 9
SUCCESS! If your screen looks like this everything went fine:

Image of finished repair...I put some red plasti-dip around the fix-cable to isolate it

---
Notes:

Battery stats should be now OK - If not solder battery pinpoint EN to the PCB pinpoint behind (not under)

So what was the problem?

Sony's battery connector on the PCB is a cheap plastic sh*t... there are 6 connection points... 2 for +, 2 for -, 1 for temperature (TN - located middle top) and one EN ??? after some time the TN signal does not connect correctly causing this problem. you can't charge the battery and/or get false battery stats...if the battery is empty you can't boot anymore even with ac charger connected...

On my screenshot on top you see the battery temperature is 34° and green - OK - everything working fine

But without the fix you'lI get this:

Complete bull****...minus -30°...I'm not even close to Sibiria

So one step was to get rid of this fault... Since I got sometimes the right values (about + 30°C) when I was holding the connection between battery and pcb together with my fingers while device was on, I thought it is a problem with the connection.

The main problem on my two devices was that they didn't charge... When connected to AC -> bootloop ...

I got a fully charged battery and found this problem with the battery test app.. Fixing the battery connection to transmit correct temperature data made it possible to charge the battery fully again...battery stats are working and correct...I can now charge the devices as normal (in turned on or off state) ... i did buy new batterys but used the old ones for the fix and they work perfectly

TESTED ON TWO DEVICES WITH BOOTLOOP / NOT CHARGING and they are working FULLY again!!!!

Note if you open your device it may not be water resistant anymore...you can buy a new seal on ebay

If it worked for you please say thanks/like

thx 2 hunix for his software fix thread
Thank you for this useful info!
I see on my Xperia Z C6603 the flexi cable on the battery has a little tear through EB- and TH.
My question is which terminal do I solder EB- to?

Thanks, seems to be working for me. My Xperia did very strange things with the battery. Without I was charging it the percentage was going up and down. Also when I putted the charger the percentage was counting upwards and downwards, also sometimes he did not charge.

So I used my old phone and ordered the tools to open the sony xperia and a new battery, I was thinking it was broken because my phone died, no power anymore and not charging (bootloop). Now I opened it like explained on fixit.com. and just disconnected the connector and reconnect it again.

Wonderfull, he charge again but like before sometime the percentage was going up to fast. When I hold my finger on the connector and pushed a little he stopped to do that. So I now bent over the connector pins like shown in this thread and that seems to do it. Thanks you quickstyler.

Hello,

Can we also solder also EB+ and EB- directly from the motherboard without passing by the stupid connector? This because with bending the pins the plastic has broken.

Thanks

If it's possible then I think this is the good way to do it:

For the EN i'm not sure, don't know what it does.

Can someone confirm this?

Bodge (temporary) workaround

Using this video to identify what the inside of my phone looked like, I tried squeezing the screen approximately where the temperature sensor and battery connector is.
This worked, so now my phone is charging with a little rubber pad and a pile of books on top of it. Temporary I know, but a big "thank you" for giving me some clue as to what may be wrong. I'm not sure that I will attempt the full fix, but at least I can back up the phone now and decide what to do next.

I installed the apk "Sony Mobile Battery test" and it doens't seem to be helpful. It asked me to unplug the AC charger.

My problem is, my phone would just boot to the Sony logo and it will still be alive playing in the recovery, flashing new ROMs etc, but if you want to go into the ROM, you must put it in AC charger, of else it will just shut off. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
