Xperia Z battery hack

I bet you've already grown tired owning Xperia Z c6603 l36h!
It's not about hardware specs, it's not about os and apps support update, but it's about battery life, right?

Well, now, I hope I can help you to solve that problem.
You just change the battery with alternative battery (with bigger capacity) as long as it follows below rules:

1. the alternative battery is li-ion/li-polymer with below dimension:
>> thickness not exceeding 5mm
>> length x width not exceeding 6.2 x 6.5 cm

2. the alternative battery is using 3.7V

I use this battery. it's 3800mah!

Of course you should hack both your alternative battery, pried open your xperia z, and hack your sony xperia z battery. read below instruction (you need somewhat basic soldering skill):

*****
This will void the warranty.
And if somewhat you put alternative batteries using more that 3.7 V, it will damage you xperia z power IC.
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
*****

A. Hack your alternative battery

ditch this from your alternative battery. you only need its positive and negative element

B. Put cover back to your alternative battery using tapes
You cannot touch its bare metal body since it will make accidental current contact whenever you touch its positive element.

C. Hack your xperia z battery

Xperia battery consist of two things: battery and battery's flex cable

Separate the flex cable from battery. WARNING: you only need to cut the positive and negative leg connection on the battery. You must never cut the flex cable. You need this flex cable so bad to mediate connection from alternetive battery to your xperia z phone.

Save this flex cable and dump that f**king 2370mah xperia battery!

D. Solder the flex cable to your alternative battery!
Watch carrefully the B+ and B- on the flex cable and the + and - leg of your alternative battery.

Solder the flex cable to your alternative battery, put it back to your phone and connect the flex battery cable to your phone

E. before assembling back the modified battery, put lots of double tape in your xperia body to securely stick and attach the battery.

DONE! You're good to go.
Now you have Xperia Z which will long-last through the day.

That's the most ghetto looking mod I've seen on XDA. The sort of thing you find in the morning having melted your pillow. I'll definitely consider doing it if I ever fix my screen.

Wow, that's some high level hardware modification :)
How's your battery life on this 3800 mAh cell? Does it overheat or blow up in your hands?

Edit: Happy new year! :D

Hahahaha, sorry for the soldering quality. Just like I said, need somewhat basic soldering skills! I'm not even close to basic, but luckily I survived!

There is no occurence of burning or melting, but should you decide to try, please use a lot of double tapes to cover the battery body (and opposing pole while soldering one pole) first. And then more tape (after finished soldering) to secure from short circuit.

PS. 6 days of running, still survived. wish me luck.

Or you could just buy bigger battery.... without playing with soldering...

My friend use this one, without an problem(I changed battery once but to standard 2330mAh):
Xperia Z battery - 3460mAh

You can find this battery on ebay or any other site for about 8-12 Euro.

But as I mentioned on other topic, even with this bigger batteries you still need to charge XZ every day. Difference in really small, because of software that just dont see those bigger batteries too good(lots of time phone scream to charge it, but when you turn it off and charge its still have about 10-20%) But also hardware(especially screen) that just suck this battery really fast(not to mention LTE/3G network that if dont have good signal it gonna search for network over and over drying battery)

One good solution!

Wow, that's quite a big battery compared to stock. Why didn't you posted your results? Please do share. Here are my questions, :D
Did the battery usage life increase?
How much?
Conparing to your previous battery, how does this one do?
How often you need to charge?
Do you experience anything weird like overheating?
Please do post some graphs, Iam really interested.
Btw, I own an xperia ZL, so is this mod possible on that?
Thanks.
