After seeing the EEEPad Transformer and how it can use a mouse. I wonder if we would be able to use a mouse on our nooks? I currently am able to pair a keyboard but a mouse would definitely help solidify my nook as my laptop replacement.

so has anyone tried it?

I tried my Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse...It worked more like arrow keys. It would highlight options on my homescreen and I could click to select them, however there was no cursor. I am using CM7, and apparently a version of CM6 actually included mouse cursor support, but many felt the code was not very good. It was not included in CM7, but I have seen a few threads on the internets of people attempting to create a patch for mouse cursor support, but I have not seen anything that seemed functional as of late.

Let me know if you find anything! I really hope this comes soon!

I, too, tried a bluetooth mouse. From my understanding, it DOES work as expected BUT there is no cursor (you're basically moving around an invisible cursor).

BUT the cursor DOES show up in Opera! Very cool using it with a keyboard and mouse.

thanks for the replies guys :) . I wonder if we can somehow get a cursor added to cm7 ? lol seeing as it definitely exists in honeycomb, at least on the transformer and apparently also in opera. Would be a pretty cool feature to have :)

the nook does not have a BT chip, but some very talented programmers managed to write some code that simulates the functions of BT in the nook.
No, the Nook does have a BT chip, it's just not enabled by default. Developers managed to get it working but the range is somewhat limited as the antenna built into the NC wasn't designed with BT in mind (it shares with the wifi).

The NC actually also has an FM radio chip but it is not hooked to antenna so even if enabled would get no reception. It's all built into the communication chip (has wifi, BT and FM radio), but only the wifi and BT are hooked to the antenna.

Hmm, interesting. Thanks!

So I tried my Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse with the latest nightly. The cursor indeed appeared, however it only seemed to work in the upper right quarter of the screen when in landscape. Anyone else have similar problems?

Try turning off Compatibility Mode in Spare Parts, then rebooting. Worked for me, but I was in portrait mode with a similar problem.

I tried this and still got the same result I had earlier...hmm...I guess I'll try again. It look's like the mouse is limited to a phone-sized block on the screen, which would make sense that compatibility mode would be the issue, but for some reason it did not fix it for me. I'll keep trying.

I am also having this problem with my Bluetooth mouse. It is the same for me if compatibility mode is on or off. Hopefully we get a fix for this soon!

EDIT - I fixed this problem by setting an LCD Density of 160 instead of the default 161. This unfortunately breaks the My Apps section of the Market, but everything else seems to work fine.
