has anyone tried using an external hard drive?

has anyone tried to use any 1tb extrnal hard drives on their gs3? i thought it would be a good way to not clutter the phone up with pictures, videos and music. how ever i dont have one to try it with yet. any thoughts?

I've heard stories that the voltage regulator for the microUSB doesn't always work properly when using OTG so something like a harddrive which requires a decent amount of current to drive will fry the microUSB port. I've personally used an OTG cable to power a USB thumb drive without any issues but I would not recommend trying to power a harddrive.

If the harddrive has a separate power supply then you may be ok.

I agree, don't do it, I've read a few times that an external device caused a hard brick.
