Wow! This is a perfectly documented tip. Since it was my first time using Terminal Emulator to fix something, it was also pretty cool. Thanks. Worked like a charm for my HTC Aria running CM 7.0.3.

Great find on the disabling tip.

But yea Im also not seeing the reason for all the hate with the new market. Its actually pretty intuitive and easy to use. Yes it has a VERY WP7 feel to it, but thats kind of what makes it so easy to use. I havent noticed any "problems" at all. Ill admit it took a little while to get used to the new look, I didnt like it at all at first, but once I got used to the new layout I cant really find anything to complain about. I think the new catergories for sorting through apps is a nice little touch. My wifes phone only just very recently updated to the new market and I actually prefer the new market over the old one when comparing them side by side.

I would actually rather use the new market, but I use a non-standard screen density. Apparently the new market checks density and there are a lot of apps it won't let me download because of that. So instead of changing it and rebooting for each app I want, I just use the old market. It doesn't check or just doesn't care. :) It only does this on some apps so there must be something in the way those apps are written or listed.

BTW: I never noticed this problem on my Aria. Only since getting my Infuse.

That I did not know about the new market. I havent run into the issue personally yet on my Aria.

On a side note, hows that Infuse treating you? I almost caved and got one today but then I started playing around with the new LG Thrill 4G. I was very impressed with it. Now Im torn between waiting to see the SGSII price or just grabbing the Thrill for $100.

I also happen to use a custom themed market.transparent blue thanks to bkmo and am very happy with it.It looks very nice and simple. The new market just has too much going on visually for me plus I lose the blue transparency. There's nothing wrong with liking the new market just as there's nothing wrong with not liking it.Thanks to this wonderful OS called android we have choices(unlike the fruit phone) that at least I think we can all agree on.

Amen to that. Choice is what android is all about...the opposite of what you get with a piece of fruit ;)

I love it! Stock it was kinda meh. But once I got a custom ROM and kernel on it I've never looked back. The size was a little off-putting at first but now I'm so used to it that when I pick up my aria for anything it feels so tiny. I love the bigger screen and having flash (the app and the camera flash). After putting Serendipity VII and a kernel my battery life is awesome too. After how I used my phone last night, my Aria would've been sitting at ~20% on battery when I walked out of work at 6:00, at best. My infuse is currently at 53%. Honestly though, if I were you I'd wait on the SGS II. Looks like an amazing phone. I kinda wish I had waited. The dev community for the infuse is a little slower since we don't have an official AT&T GB update yet. Our CM7 ROM is not even to the nightlies yet either. There're several dedicated devs making it happen though.

God save me from trolls and hijackers. ;) whatever happened to staying on topic. Now that that's been said I'm keeping an eye on the nexus line I'm really wanting a longterm phone but I have to admit the aria has been worlds better than I ever dreamed.

We were kinda sorta maybe halfway on topic. Hanging onto the very edge of the topic, but we were in the vicinity. :) lol

this was really helpful

thanks so much! hate the new market. running cyanogenmod 7.1.0 and the newest market was giving me all sorts of problems, not recognizing my apps, not installing manual updates properly etc... old market works perfectly as it always has.
