Actually it proves that hc wasn't built from ground up as graffix said. Its interesting none the less.

Does this mean you can install HOneycomb on a phone???

Yes, but you won't "see" any changes.

Why anyone is surprised at this is beyond me. This is how android was designed to work. Honeycomb was an ADDITION not a re invention of the OS. The "from the ground up" is because none of those resources existed. Any new feature added is built "from the ground up".

This is really old news and has been known about since the HC SDK was first released. Pocketnow mentioned this on their site when they tried the SDK out in an emulator.

Actually, I think this is perfectly intentional.

When honeycomb came out, I was playing with the SDK, and this was one of the first things I discovered when starting the emulator in portrait mode as opposed to landscape (which is what tablets are usually orientated at) for the resolution I was using.

It made sense that there would be some sort of backwards compatibility for new devices that didn't want the new honeycomb interface, because it just wasn't suitable, but still wanted the new API features that it offers.
