There are some apps that I'm getting this message "Your device isn't compatible with this version" for example the "inside out thought bubbles" app. I'm on CM11 M12.
I've read about Market Helper and other solutions but they are a couple of years old and not sure if they still apply.
So what are the options available?
Not the most convenient method, but would sideloading work?
Would prefer a more permanent solution.
There are many properties that play store looks at to decide what apps to show compatible. Just because play says it is incompatible does not mean it will not run on the device. There are generally two solutions, one go to an alternate app store like Amazon or 1mobile.com. Two, download the app from another device and install it manually.

So I just got 2 nook hds reburbs for my two sons, I had one since october. They love them, but now that the older one has profiles on it, it seems to be getting stuck at 99% every week or so. At this point I am tired of dealing with it and am looking for solutions. If i flash CM on the tablets, which one is the most stable? My boys want to read and play games and maybe even netflix. Any advice on cm10.2 vs cm11?

The quickest solution I found so far was to download the app on my pc and install thru airdroid (drag and drop). Does 1mobile.com give you direct download to the tablet? It keeps directing me to get the app and within the app it directs me back to the google play store where the device is still incompatible. I was reading about market helper, but that seems to be outdated. There is also a build.prop, which disguises the tablet to appear as another tablet such as asus or samsung and that lets your download from google play. Any experience on build.prop and does it actually work for the nook? And if it does, is there a guide as simple as the one leapinlar created as to what to edit in build.prop?

Editing build.prop has never been successful for me. I haven't done 1mobile.com for a long time, but they used to have an app that directly installed the app. Never used market helper. And you are right an easy method is to install the apk file directly that you get somewhere else. Do all these you must enable unknown sources in settings.

It is easy to upgrade to CM10.2.1 stable which is android 4.3. Just go to back to the first post to get the required downloads (the cm and gapp zips) and flash them. No need to do any wipes coming from cm10.1.3. It is good too, I just like 10.1.3 better because that is what I use and has always worked well for me.

I sure hate to change , this version is working so great no problems at all in fact it works better than the original. You can't get better than that and I can't thank you enough for taking the time to set me on the right track. I have been so busy with other things (like making a living) that I haven't worked on any now hobby items .

Help please

First off, I want to thank Leapinlar for a great tutorial in Post #7. That is what I followed with my Nook HD+. Everthing went smoothly (once I figured out I forgot to click Apply in MiniPartition). I installed cm-11-20150712-NIGHTLY-ovation.zip.

I thought everything was running well, but I've had a couple problems. First, when I was using Google Voice Search, it completely and suddenly just shut down the whole Nook. I rebooted and tried again and that time it was ok. Then I installed YouTube app. As soon as I started playing a video, I got the same thing, where the Nook shut down instantly. I rebooted and tried it again. This time the video played, but about 5 minutes into it, the Nook shut down again.

So, now I would like to install cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-ovation.zip instead of the Nightly that's installed now. I'm just not sure how I would do that, and wondered if someone could tell me the steps I need to take. I would like to stick with Kitkat so I'm assuming CM11 is the only one to use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you are going to an older version of cm11 you need to do a factory reset with cwm before flashing the M12 zip.

I am not sure how to flash. I am thinking you put 10.2 on a mini disk and follow the procedure listed earlier in the post.

If that is correct do you delete also or just update from zip. Just trying to be careful and not ruin a good thing.

Thanks for the reply, Leapinlar, I much appreciate it. Interestingly, I was searching through the forum to see if anyone else had a similar problem and found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545839#post62301381

Although that guy said he opened up his Nook, I did not .

First, I uninstalled Youtube (I did not clear the dalvik cache, but maybe I should have). I reinstalled Youtube, then went into Settings and then Sound. I saw that all levels were at the highest. So I put them about 1/2 way.

Then I ran Youtube and also Google voice search, and I had no problems. Everything ran great. I'm wondering if when I was on stock rom, if my volume settings weren't all the way up, like right after I flashed CM11. Maybe it's a hardware problem and not software related? It was odd how quickly the Nook shut down. I would think if it was software, that just the app would have crashed, and not the whole unit.

So at this point, do you think I should just keep the nightly on and see how it goes for a while? If I do a factory reset and install m-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-ovation.zip, would I also need to use different Gapps and Recovery?

I really like my Nook HD+ now. Movies looks amazing on it, and I like having a "normal" tablet :)

You might try using the nook as you fixed it. If you decide to downgrade, just factory reset with the same recovery and flash the M12 zip. No need to reflash the gapps zip, but you can if you want to. It uses the same version as the nightly.

Thanks, Leapinlar. I think for now I'll stick with the Nightly. But good to know now how to flash the M12 if I need to.
