I think I may finally take the leap with my replacement device and unlock it over the weekend. Has anyone been able to flash a kernel or make other changes to reign in the horrible battery drain when 5G is on?

Battery drain

I'm scared to root yet. The battery drain is horrible for this device so if there's something to improve that, I'm down to try anything. It's also very unclear if rooting and flashing 7t pro international would break the 5G. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

I saw one post that Blu Spark kernel worked with our model and 5G. Not sure about battery life, though.

Either way, now that we have MDM files, we can easily restore back to full stock should it not work.

ok, what am i missing here? i downloaded the file, what do i do with it?

i dont see the platform tools file anywhere.
Could someone please let me know what i am missing? i download the appropriate file, and its just a standard 7z file. There is nothing to unzip, did i miss something somewhere?

Do i download the reserve file to the phone itself?

What are trying to do exactly?? Do you even need to fix your phone? Also, a .7z file is an archive/zip file. Extract it with 7-zip. Then of course you need the platform tools to do anything. I.e., adb, fastboot, etc. Honestly, if you are this confused, maybe you shouldn't even be messing around with this. Not trying to offend. But this process is only for people that have rooted/unlocked bootloader. Or, in some cases, performed a factory data reset from the recovery menu.

no offense taken at all, my phone is rooted thanks to the method you had posted a few months ago, but when i went to do this, i felt totally stumped. i had never heard of a 7-zip before, so i didn't have anything on my computer that recognized it. Until the 6T, i was a total samsung fiend, and had been out of the loop for a while. thanks for the little bit of info that you provided for me though, and hopefully i can update my phone now.

You are missing the ability to follow instructions in the original post
this isn't exactly a helpful response, so if you'd please keep your snarkiness to yourself, i'd appreciate it. Thanks, bye :good:

Hell yeah I'm using the Blu Spark kernel and my phone is night and day. My battery life increased a lot too! I downloaded Franco Kernel Manager on the Play Store and set my scheduler to blu_schedulil and the phone is so snappy. I even was using it for navigation connected to 5G and I'm at 40% The new update (10.0.25) helps with download speeds as well. Been on it for a few days now and loving it. https://m.imgur.com/gallery/kSlTdSL

What update are you on currently? Because after "fixing" your phone using this fixer method, you should then be able to just accept future OTA updates from that point on. I was on .16, used this fix to restore my reserve.img file and update to .19. Then I installed .25 via regular OTA method without losing root.

That isn't true. I ran the fix and updated to 19. I cannot update to 25.
How is that not true? I can 100% attest that it worked for me. Why wouldn't it work for you? Check to see if the reserve.img file exists on your phone with mixplorer or something. If it doesn't, there is your reason it's failing

Literally the second line in the instructions section of the original post asks you to Unzip the file. I am not being snarky, merely stating facts

Here is what I am doing for reference:

Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot magisk_patched.img
adb install MagiskManager-v7.5.1.apk
adb shell 'su -c dmesg > /dev/null'

# I then have to copy the files over to my sdcard root
adb shell 'su -c mv /sdcard/reserve.img /data/reserve/'
adb shell 'su -c chown root:root /data/reserve/reserve.img'
adb shell 'su -c chmod 600 /data/reserve/reserve.img'
adb shell 'su -c restorecon /data/reserve/reserve.img'
adb shell 'su -c exit 0'
adb reboot
Code:
I then go to software update
select update,
says installing update,
installation paused,
I click resume,
installing system update,
couldn't update.

Yeah but none of this info helps us solve your issue. This only shows
that you're following directions. Something else is killing the ability
for you to update, and a logcat during said update will tell us what
it is. Also, what version are you on, and what version are you trying
to update to?

Did you restore the factory boot.img in magisk before accepting the new update? Reading what you are posting it sounds like you are trying to take the update while rooted.
