Now that Ive been playing other games like clash royal, tap titans and several others Ive noticed that the cpu overheats quite often and my games and some apps dont run buttery smooth until the phone cools down..

No heat problems here ;) My device takes a lot longer to heat enough before you notice any thermal throttling. The combination of a 17W/mK thermal pad and 16W/mK thermal paste seems to be very effective in comparison to the cheap and rubbery thermal paste used by Huawei. The pink stuff used inside might have a low thermal conductivity of 1,5W/mK if it´s made out of similar material like pink thermal pads.

Mine got really hot but basically I was in a 102°F weather and because it was so bright most of the time I just kept the screen at max brightness. That's the first time I noticed the phone get really hot. Even with a case on I could feel it. Other than that it gets warn but no more than any other phone. Again this is with a case on.

Mine gets hot around 98 oF and I am only surfing web, facebook, texting. I dont know if it is common on Nexus 6P or it's only my 6P :(

I might go back to an older build; it's nice to have the latest security updates but the phone now feels considerably hotter when barely doing anything, and the new radio results in worse reception than before.

I've had mine for somewhere around two months (I think) and so far the only times it approaches actually being hot is if I have it plugged in when I'm flashing a ROM, but even then nothing crazy. Definitely hot enough in comparison to the bulk of my previous phones would when also plugged in and mid-flash, but nowhere near te point that it's worrisome. In fact my Note 4 would actually get substantially hotter in the same scenario, even unplugged. Apart from that sometimes it'll get a bit warmer than usual if I'm restoring a ton of apps (again only when it's plugged in in tandem, really), but to such a mild extent that there's a good chance it's not heating up to a greater extent than any of my previous phones would have in the same situation, only this time I'm always subconsciously on the lookout for a flareup so I can cry "810!".

If any prospective buyers are concerned about the presence of the 810, don't be. I'd heard such terrible stuff about 810 overheating to devastating effect (although I can't think of the context it was in right now, so I was probably overreacting to begin with) and was super wary of my 6p purchase being one I would regret as a result, and the 810 has been nothing but an awesome experience thus far. Anyone with similar concerns shouldn't put that much stock in them. I'm sure some 6p owners have had issues with overheating, but all manufacturing runs have a certain percentage of units that are bunk, that's no exclusive to this one chipset.

I have no issues with heat except when I'm playing Ingress. Phone doesn't get crazy hot but once it hits 100-101 it definitely starts to lag.

I don't know if it's me.. But after playing the game Mini Militia over WiFi for sometime, the phone gets got very quickly and what's annoying is that the screen is the one that gets hotter than the back and if there comes a call, it's almost not possible to bring it to the ear.
Can somebody confirm?

Very saddening because the main reason I changed the previous phone was exactly due to the sheet the screen produced. Never knew this 6P would do the same.

A game as simple as Tap Titans will cause the high performance cores to throttle, all 4 in about 5-8mins and you will notice a frame drop. On the S7 the phone gets very warm but no throttle. Maybe the heat transfer on my N6P is bad ?

The only time I notice excessive heat is when I video chat using the Skype app. Normal use rarely creates any noticeable heat although I don't really play any games.

I'm actually waiting for a call from Google right now to RMA mine for throttling. I've had it since November first and after all these months the thing is starting to run badly with the non stop throttling. Just flashed factory images a month ago and after a while the problems came back.

This is my 2nd device (replacement). It still gets hot really easily. With simple usage like watching a few videos (MX Player) or Chrome. And while gaming it gets hot to the point when you can't touch it for more than 5 seconds.

Same here! I usually videocall using Hangouts, and the phone does get warm in those cases. For instance I had a 30mins video call today, just after which I checked the battery temp of the phone, and it was 38.8°C. Not too bad (my N5 did get hotter), but the phone was noticeably war on the upper rear.

I never experienced this much heat, even after playing with Reckless Racing 3 and Asphalt 8 (the only games I rarely play)! Could it be due to the high ambient temperature? I mean, it should not be that way in any case, but that could explain why not everybody has this problem.

Even I game rarely, but when I'm with my friends playing some multi-player game, it's embarrassing to have a phone that's uncomfortable to hold and too hot to touch. It would have not been a problem if only the back is heating up, but it's the display.

Should I go in for another replacement? I've already so much of time buying this phone.

My oneplus 2, which uses the same cpu/gpu, would routinely hit 70C after only a few minutes of gaming. My 6p doesn't exceed 40C even while gaming and charging at the same time for hours. The oneplus 2 was underclocked by oneplus to 1.8ghz, whereas the 6p is clocked to 2ghz. Physics says this should not be possible.

I was VERY hesitant to get another phone with a snapdragon 810 after my experience with the OP2, but the 6p has been a really pleasant surprise.

Bought my 6P 3~4 days ago. First few days (Marshmallow) it got somewhat warm but that was to be expected since I was installing apps/updates/media all day. Now on Nougat, even with light~moderate usage, the upper half of the back gets noticeably warm. I thought it was maybe something I did with the settings but now I see other people having the same issue. Could this be a problem with Nougat that could be fixed in 7.1? I also realised that on Nougat, when unlocking the screen, the display takes some time to turn on, don't remember it being that slow on Marshmallow, anyone else having this issue?
