Coming from an S3, my S7 (exynos, not edge) gets pretty hot even at standard use like some web surfing in chrome or whatsapp chatting.
And the battery seems to drain for no reason :( , but damn is it fast as hell.

At initial setup while syncing my iOS data to S7, device felt warm to touch..
Also for no reason when i applied Material design black theme, the device was warm to touch when it was idle.. Removed it and everything came normal..

Noticed that when device is charged in switched off state, its quite warm to touch. but when charged with device turned ON, can feel slight warm..

Only time it really gets hot is when I use the Navigon app with realtime traffic enabled, regardless if plugged to the standard car charger or without - otherwise I can't complain, not doing excessive gaming though. Btw couldn't resist and rooted a few days ago, got rid of all the Knox stuff (I hope) and not looking back so far. Have to say this was the 1st phone with root already available which stayed stock for 2 weeks.

Gets warm fast charging, to be expected, but gets very hot viewing cameras for my CCTV with the CCTV app, like 5 minutes viewing and the phone is red hot

Think that's the apps fault though, drains batteries like nothing else, on the S5 too

Little bit disappointed with the heat produced by my snapdragon 820 powered Galaxy S7.

When browsing the internet (on 4G, not wifi), the temperature goes about 33 to 35 degree C in average, and it feels really warm on the metal bezel (this is my first metal-bezelled phone though), and very uncomfortable when making / taking a call after browsing. The idle temperature is quite ok (27-30 degree C), although still higher than the exynos 8890.

Because I read that exynos runs really cool compared to snapdragon, I am not surprised, but I don't expect it to be so hot either. Battery life is noticeably worse too, about 5 to 10% compared to exynos (those 2 issues are enough to get rid of raw processing power advantage and the superior GPU of SD820 and its Adreno 530).

Is it normal for a snapdragon 820 Galaxy S7?

Galaxy S7 thermal throttling is definitely present (can't match 801), but also not any more than what you should be concerned about. Exynos dual SIM, device was charging through PC USB, in air-conditioned room. Two simultaneous GB4 runs. I imagine blue line is BIG cores, gray is LITTLE cores.

60 degrees the battery??? What app did you use to measure it? And you sure it was the temperature of the battery and not some other sensor?
Well I had apparently used kernel auditor for measuring it which showed me 60 degrees battery temp .later when I used SetCPU it was locked at 45 degrees..didn't increase above that but CPU temp was around 60 degrees...I guess that's normal, isn't it?

Doesn't seems right, you should download" GSam battery monitor" and keep an eye on the battery temperature. It also has a diagram that shows the temperature during the day. What I've noticed is that battery's temperature is almost the same as CPU's.
