Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the Samsung Galaxy S7's battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.

Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Coming from the Droid maxx I find the battery to be underwhelming. The only saving grace is the quick charge. Love the device hardware but battery sucks.

It gets hotter than Galaxy S5. Gets very hot when doing continous web browsing. Gets overheat warning when playing VR for 30 mins.

The game's name is Lands End

Mine doesn't get hot at all but I am not gaming. About the hottest it gets when updating Android. And I live in a very hot and humid climate so I am very satisfied.

Can you download CPU-Z and tell us the battery temperature when you are on Chrome for more than 10 minutes and when you are charging the phone ? Mine gets warm after using it a bit and hot when charging.

I don't browse much on the phone. It's just annoying. Also, I have been using USB charging from a desktop which is horribly slow but also doesn't heat up the battery which is good. Like I said the only time I notice it getting hot is on a long Android update. When I update all apps and have like 20 or 30 apps to be updated it gets warm but not hot. And the ambient temp here is around 90-95F right now in my living room. Right now on phone info it shows 33C CPU and 33.3C battery. I don't use cpuz because of the ads. I thought cpux had temps but i can't find them now.

Oh it does get hot with the wall charger! I have been using usb charging and it takes over three hours to go from 40% or so to full but the phone stays cool. The wall charger is much faster but it really heats up the phone. I guess what you are seeing is normal. Try usb charging if you don't need to get the battery full in a hurry.

i heavily modified my s7 software (Google Play Services replaced with microG, Xposed installed, Magisk installed, Amplify, Greenify, Better Battery Saver, Disable-Service, PowerNap, AFWall+, AdAway, AppOps, etc), and i get very very good battery, 6 hours SOT minimum with heavy LTE usage on whatsapp, facebook, instagram, etc. But yeah, in stock bloated rom, battery sucks.

Does your s7 have the exynos processor or snapdragon? if it's snapdragon, can you tell me what other apps you used to get such awesome battery life, or what guides you used that led you to the use of such apps? I can barely crack 4 hours SOT with mainly Firefox, Youtube use, and some facebook/whatsapp. On top of that, when I rooted my s7 and tried using greenify+amplify+forcedoze my battery life was VERY BAD compared to stock and full bloat.

I purchased this phone on 12/21 from Best Buy. I am coming from an unlocked Moto Z Play with which I was averaging 10 hours of screen time. Greatness and benchmark every OEM should consider. The apps on the S7 are the same as I had on the Moto. Today is my first day of a full charge and I have actually used it less than I typically would the Moto Z Play. I would try to kill the battery on the Moto purposely. That thing just kept going. Underwhelming battery life is about right for the S7 but I knew coming in that there would be absolutely no comparison.

Why did I switch? This phone game is one of give and take. I would take the Moto Z Play with that Snapdragon 625, insane battery life, 10x better finger scanner and the software experience over the S7 any day. There was one thing that I could not deal with on the Moto and this is where the S7 shines. The camera on the Moto is horrendous.

I have a nice shooter but I don't lug it everywhere I go. More times than not I want to take a picture with my phone where you just wouldn't carry a camera.

So, as of this post I am on target for about 4 hours of SOT on the S7 which falls short of what I am used to (Moto Z Play, 10 hours and about 8 on the iPhone 6 Plus that I just sold).

Give and take. Return this S7 and go back to the Moto Z Play but deal with a camera that sucks but IMHO excels over the S7 in every other aspect?

It would be useful to state whether you own the Exynos or the Snapdragon* version :) I have the Exynos, it doesn't get hot, not even when charging. 6 hours game time.

It's Exynos! i think 4hs SOT with Qualcomm it's ok since it is less efficient (At least on our phone). I can't tell about battery drain on root because the root method of your version is different, so maybe it's a kernel issue (no deep sleeping or something like that or a bad CPU governor keeping the cores at high frecuency).
