So I would call myself a heavy user as I use my phone daily for work, tethering, etc. This includes running GPS constantaly for hours on end tracking skiing/mountain biking, playing music via pandora (both cached and in service modes) and it doesn't get that hot at all. The ONLY time I feel it getting hot is when I have tethering on in addition too everything else.

I've used both wireless and fast charging it it's not too hot when I pick it up. To be fair, I have a lifeproof case on it so that may be absorbing heat but those are my results.

I must say, battery life is on point for me. I can get a full day including 5+ hours tracking with GPS and music.

Flagship devices can handle huge things but unfortunately battery's aren't. They just focus on adding up features instead of giving good performance on whatever is packed on the phone with good battery back up.

Serious Drainage when phone hits 15%

When my phone hits 15% it literally counts down to zero in 15 seconds. Just started happening about a week ago. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Looks like your battery is dead. You would need a battery replacement.

Before you can try recalibrating the battery by draining to 0 and then recharging it to 100 in one shot. Do it 2-3 times and it should calibrate properly.

Thank you for the response. It was, indeed, the battery.

Did you get it replaced? If so then how? And how much did it cost?
Hi there, I ended up purchasing a battery and new back in Amazon. If I had sent it in and used insurance, there was a chance chance it would be swapped out for a refurbished unit without even checking if it was the battery. Sounded fine until rep told me it would be $150 if phone was damaged. Unlucky for me, I cracked the back Glass the 1st day i had it. After, reading many posts, i was 80-90% convinced it would be fixed with with new battery. This was just enough doubt to keep me from spending 80 bucks for a pro to replace battery. If financial situation had been better, I would have opted for one of these 2 options.

Ended up costing about $25 bucks and a few hours time...much of which was spent watching YouTube tutorials. Before discovering this forum, I considered myself pretty tech savvy. But I am far from it, unless comparing to peers. I did spend a few years dealing craps, so I can say I have good hands...this was definitely a plus! All worked great.

About 6 weeks later, I dropped phone, which I have done many times. After initial crack, I bought a heavy duty case which served me very well. However, when I picked it up, it was dead. I figured I just needed to plug it in and start it up. When I did, the battery icon would flash off every couple seconds and vibrate. I suspected that the connector from battery to board had come loose and needed to be reseated. Opened it back up and it didn't work. Tried every button combo and was able to get into download mode and but could not do it when connected to conputer. Inshould add that phone is not rooted. I got into recovery mode but could not boot, so i ended up trying a factory reset. Now the phone shows "recovery booting" in small blue letters and keeps flashing and vibrating...just like it had initially done with the battery icon. I could and can still get into download mode when connected to wall charger, but no luck with computer.

In a lsst ditch effort, i completely disassembled and detached wire from power button mechanism. I was convinced that it was "stuck" (even though button did not physically seem stuck), and it seemed to make a lot of sense as to why phone could not charge or boot. That didnt work so i took out the mechanism, hoping that the wire was for something else....nope, lol.

Sorry for the novel. If you are still with me, I have a question. When receiving an OTA update on my old S5, which I activated, I saw the familiar blue "recovery booting" at the beginning of process. This is likely foolish thinking, but I wondered whether an OTA update that i had been delaying from Verizon, had been forced on my S7 when I did the factory reset and somehow could be playing a part in my misery.

FINALLY, my question...could this ever be the case? And more importantly, would it be possible to have a VZ tech push some sort of fix to my phone if I can get it into download mode? I apologize if this is a dumb question and realize that I can certainly call tech support and ask, but figured it would be helpful to know the answer, beforehand.

If anyone has read this far and lives in, or visits, Minnesota, I will gladly buy you a few rounds for your patience!

P.S. I wrote about this in another thread a couple weeks ago. A commentor described exact same issue...did not get a reply, though....sorry if duping the issue is bad etiquette.
