Well Hi! :)

I had switched to the Realme 2 Pro in Oct 2018 from Lenovo Vibe K4 Note but, to my surprise I discovered that bootloader unlocking and rooting and custom roms is not a thing on Realme devices which I did not research before buying the phone as I just fell for the awesome hardware specs it provided in my budget.
Also Realme has a terribly looking, inconvenient, half baked, and super security ColorOS on that phone which I personally feel. ( and just hate that ColorOS Skin sooooo much )

I had Poco F1 on my mind to buy ( before Realme 2 Pro ) was launched but somehow after its launch I decided to buy the 128GB 8GB RAM variant of it ( for INR.18000/- ) which was in my budget of INR.20,000/- as I was only going to get 6GB RAM & 64GB storage + hybrid sim slot if I would buy the Poco F1 which was available for INR.21000/- at that time. Storage plays a primary role for me.

But I had such a terrible experience with the ColorOS & software of Realme 2 Pro. We were promised by Realme that we would get to unlock our phones and also get the Kernel Source Codes release by January 15 2019 so I decided to wait for some time and then we could have some good AOSP Roms on XDA for my Phone and then I could flash those and live happily ever after. "BUT" despite promising to provide the complete set of kernel source codes, Realme has provided only the minimal basic source codes which I am sure are not sufficient to make a stable daily driver custom Rom. Also the procedure of unlocking the bootloader is a mess. After releasing the minimal basic source codes, Realme has stated that it will take them "SEVERAL WEEKS" to provide the complete set of source codes, ( and by "several weeks" I know that means atleast a minimum of 2 months ) and again it will take atleast 1-2 months for a "Usain Bolt" developer to build a semi stable/stable custom rom for the device. I have waited patiently and dealed with the ColorOS on Realme for 3 months already and now I can't take any more of it and looking at Realme's such a behaviour I DON'T TRUST THEM ANYMORE

So I decided to sell the Realme 2 Pro and better buy the Poco F1 regardless of the downgrade in storage coz the MIUI 10 is simply AWESOME. It's full of customizations & themes, good battery backup, lag free premium UI experience, and so much to say about. ( Also has some minor bugs & gliches :D BUT not a BIG deal for me though ) Plus I have crazy amount of options to choose from for custom roms here on XDA :highfive:

So I have gotten rid of the Realme 2 Pro and here I am, owning the Poco F1 64GB Rosso Red Variant which I luckily bought just for INR.18,600/- due to the ongoing Republic Day Sale

Hey all, I ordered this couple of days back for Rs 17,200 (246 USD). I am waiting to set it all up the moment I receive with customizations but it seems we need to wait 72 hours to unlock bootloader. What ROM and Kernel do you suggest for me to try? I have been looking at LineageOS, Nitrogen OS, Pixel Experience and Resurrection Remix.

I am also pretty worried about this phone's screen after I saw some YouTube videos how its screen recieved the cracks the first time it was dropped. Do you suggest any screen guard or cover?

Hi guys

Coming from S7 edge with broken display, wanted to try other companies and then saw Poco,
Really amazing, as everybody waiting for the 72 hours to unlock. Meanwhile checking recommendations on ROMs

Welcome! Poco is a cute surprise!

Personally, I went back and forth on some custom roms. But seems to settle on the stock global beta. And not feeling any urge to flash a custom rom at the moment.

I'll see how far I can go with a stock miui rom! :victory:

Hi, I am in my first week of enjoying this great phone and I can not complain because it has exceeded my expectations. The only thing that does not convince me at all is the version of Miui that brings, I would have preferred a classic Miui but with time I think I'll get used to it.
Greetings.

Hi everyone, coming from pixel 2 xl i gotta admit i miss the stock feeling..its smoothness. But the speeed on Poco is really something. I hope smoothness is improved in later update

First days on Poco. Still unsure. Looking forward to unlock as I hate MIUI. So: hello boys and gals!
Welcome all and enjoy the sheer number of custom roms and mods for Poco! :)

From a Poco user

Hi, I've been using Poco since October 2018 and i never knew this special thread existed? a discrete Poco group! It's so lovely to read how everyone is excited on owning their Poco, some go advanced enough to unlock and flash custom roms, reading those posts i felt so excited that i wanna join this thread as a member too (I've only been reading XDA forum for a few years).

Anyways, a big Hello to everyone of this Poco ownership thread! My Poco is currently running AospExtended rom with my fav Dolby and Viper modules (besides Extreme kernel) thanks to all Devs for their amazing works.
Do let me know if anyone would like to know about the customisation I've done in mine. Apart from that, I'm all eyes and ears to whatever you all discuss here as I'm willing to learn more. ?

P.s. My very first post in XDA in years, would love to be a member and learn to do some dev related works.

Hey Hey.

Coming from HTC10 and Pixel 1. Battery issues had me looking for an upgrade and while I would have loved a Pixel 3 price in NZ is prohibitive! Specs on Poco looked good and then I saw the Pixel Experience thread on this site and decided to give it a try. Got the phone a week ago, installed PE 2 days ago (first time flashing a ROM - lots of conflicting and spotty info out there!) and loving it so far.

Hi guys,

A new user of Pocophone F1 here. Been using my Moto Z Play and LG V20 then this. This was a big change for me considering how cheap the phone is.

Would just like to know if there's a big difference using the MIUI EU rom instead of the stock ROM. Like how is it for you guys?

I bought this phone primarily for its battery feedback coming from the users and its performance. I often do mods on my previous phones but this phone has been good enough for me even on stock ROM (except for the notifications).

Would like to know your ideas guys if it's a good leap to change to MIUI EU instead of stock.

Thanks.

I have many Xiaomi devices and the Poco as well. But I mostly use custom ROMs instead of MIUI. If MIUI, then only Xiaomi.EU or mi globeROM. Both a based on China developer ROMs. And both have some optimizations that are not available in the MIUI Global builds. For difference check here:
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/xiaomi-eu-vs-global-rom-differences.37425/
The most important reason for me, that you the amount of bloatware is reduced.
But thus I almost use custom ROMs like LOS, AOSiP or NOS.
Have fun with your p0c0. [emoji4]
