Just go into settings and turn on portrait mode and restart camera.

No, it needs a ROM with API2 enabled, which MIUI doesn't have as far I know.

With MGC_5.1.018_tolyan009_v1.4.1-test4.apk , camera portrait mode works well in miui.eu ROM.
