Hi!

How can I check if my Mi5S Plus is affected by this problem too? Some app from Play Store can show me the cores behavior?

I'm having some issues when playing games or even when the phone heats up when charging. The UI become very slow and some games unplayable.

Thanks in advance!

You probably are using the latest MIUI stable ROM, some people are saying that downgrading to previous versions of MIUI 9 solved that problem, or even change the ROM to a custom one.
This CPU is not well optimized for gaming.

I'm using 9.5.2.0, labeled as "Global 9.5 Stable", so I guess that you are right.

I'm CPU-Z the cores 2 and 3 are always in "stopped" mode, while 0 and 1 have number values and are changing everytime.

I would like to keep MIUI because I use dual apps. I will investigate how to downgrade. Thank you!

There are a few versions of MIUI 9 in beta that maintain all cores active, but it's mainly a bug. S821 uses big little / small little witch causes cores to shut down when not in heavy use. How every OEM writes their OS or kernel to deliver that switch is at their own liking. MIUI 9 prefers battery life thus agresivly shutting down cores. If you want to test this, install AnTuTu and you will get around 140k score with 2 cores switching of. And then install sod killer from play store and run the benchmark again, you should receive 30k + score boost at the cost of heat battery life and probably worse thermal throttle

So, in your opinion, is it a bug to keep all the cores active?

In that case, do you think it's a good idea to change the kernel for one that put all the cores on work?

Thanks in advance
