Help me to decide whether or not to purchase S8 as my next daily driver

Will you still buy S8 if you were given another chance?

Hi all Samsung Galaxy S8 users, I'm currently going to purchase a new device as my daily driver. However, I'm wondering if I should purchase Oneplus 5 or S8.

Oneplus 5 is using OOS which is a slightly modified AOSP rom which I will surely love but the S8's screen is really gorgeous and more 2017-ish.
I'm curious about the long-term performance of S8, since S8 is using TouchWiz which is a heavily skinned version of Android and is notorious for its instability such as force close on apps/random reboots/random stutters and so on as well as performance drawback.

I'm looking for a device which is capable of gaming, fluid UI and last me a day with mixed usage. Since there's no LOS available for the S8 yet, I will have to debloat the ROM if I purchased it so I'm looking forward to anyone's comments regarding the performance improvement(if there's any) after debloating the S8.

So for those who have used S8 for months, what's your thoughts? Do you regret buying this phone? Will you buy an Oneplus 5(any other phone) instead if you were given another chance?

**My location's S8 will be an Exynos version.
**Currently using Oneplus One

Thanks in advanced for every comment.

**** If there is any Chinese users here, I wonder how's the 王者荣耀 (Chinese version of Mobile Legend) runs on this phone?

First off, I have the Exynos version. While the S8 is my first Android phone, I have never had any issues whatsoever with Touchwiz. I've maybe once had an app crash, never had random reboots and the stutters are only present in apps such as the Play Store where content is loaded as you browse. Performance is absolutely amazing. I always hestitated going Android because of the issues you are describing, but I absolutely don't regret switching over. The UI is as fluid as it can be, games are smooth, battery is fine (I'm not a heavy user but I can use my phone for 2 days before having to charge). Debloating the S8 would mostly be getting rid of Bixby and carrier apps. Other than that there aren't too many things to remove imo. From what I've read, many people that complain about Touchwiz being unstable are people that mess with Package diablers while not knowing properly what to disable. This causes weird issues, stutter, lag and whatnot. I can't tell you whether it used to be bad of my own experience cause I've never really used a Samsung phone before. Imo the S8 is one of the best devices around, for a reasonable price. If future Samsung phones will continue to be as good, I will upgrade without a second thought.

I own a S8+ for months and in my opinion you should buy a OP5! Less money and a really nice comunity support with custom roms and kernels, .... thats all for less money. You´ll get the fastet device on earth at this moment. All things Samsung sells are to expensive for that money they want... Some of my friends own a OP5 and I really enjoy to play with that phones. Mine and their are rootet and debloated

I do recommend S8. I'm coming from LG v10 which was 5.7 size. S8 is 5.8 but it is smaller due to nearly frame less screen. Now I'm mad at myself I didn't buy S8+...

Regarding the OP5. I've heard it's not that much of improvement of OP3T. Also, the camera is not as good as in Samsung. Just watch comparison videos or photos.

My vote: go for S8+. S8 feels like 5.3 inch. I think s8+ will be like 5.7. And trust me, watching movies on this gorgeous display is worth the extra money. You won't be disappointed. I've heard that Samsung lowered S8 and S8+ prices to attract the new Iphone lovers.

Cheers!

Ok, short answer, we have a OnePlus 3 and the person using it is not gonna buy a future release. The phone is fine and all that, but he isn't impressed or satisfied by it either.

Purchased both of them beginning of this month.
OP5 came earlier, so I had some time to use it as a daily phone. Very nice and speedy phone. Everything looked very good, and I thought it would be excellent successor to my previous Oneplus x, which I liked more than a year long (actually still like it).
Then came the Samsung S8. It was not so easy to switch from vanilla Android regarding overall settings , but at the end I liked the Samsung add-ons in Settings, sicne it's really very well organized.
To sum up the reason why I sold OP5 and am now very happy with S8:
S8 is more compact, especially the width of the phone makes it easier to handle one handed.
The Samsung screen is absolutely fantastic, and in direct sunlight waaay better then OP5.
Despite not having two cameras, photos on the S8 are much better, and video recording in low light is incomparable. S8 has OIS!
This phone has a lot more options (features), which I found really useful - like: Bluetooth 5 (nice when you have more then one device connected i.e. external speaker and
BT headset). HDR video support and a lot of options to set the color temperature of the display. Water resistance and wireless charging are also important to me.
There are however some things I needed to change to be satisfied with S8, and luckily it was quite easy. I replaced the phone dialer and contacts applications with stock one from Google.
And - definitely a drawback in S8 compared to OP5 is the screen width, so you will have less information on the screen regarding one line, but more of them are present since the display is much taller.
Regarding pricing, I bought the S8 (new) on ebay for 535EUR and OP5 costs 499EUR. so there is not much difference at this moment.
My 2cents.

Thanks for your reply! I'd prefer smaller one tho, looks like easier to navigate through the screen.

Thanks for your comment! In my country, if I want to buy the top spec OP5 from official retailer vs S8, it's only about 100 USD difference. And yeah, OP5 community support is better but I'd rather stick to one stable rom than flashing possibly bugged open betas etc. So what's your experience with S8? Do you enjoy using it? How it differs from OP5 in terms of performance after debloating/custom rom etc?

I'd get it again. If I had more time, I might have figured out how to get an Exynos model, but I also probably wouldn't have noticed the difference. I'm happy with my pre-order 256 GB card.

I was also on the same boat, bought s8 never looked back.

No lags at all, superb battery life, no heating issues, basically everything i feared that i would see are gone. But i bought this even more for the resale value.

When oneplus decides to take things seriously i will spend my money on them, till then samsung all the way up.

If i were to decide again now however i would seriously consider lg v30.
