Hello friends,
I'm new to this forum in terms of posting a thread. Till yesterday even i didn't even thought of posting anything. Ok coming to the issue, yesterday i've installed CM 13 on my Mi 3 after watching many videos on youtube and dev forums.
What i've done
  1. Got root permissions by updating an update.zip file for miui 7
  2. Then with those permissions i've installed TWRP recovery
  3. Then entered twrp recovery by pressing Volume Up and Power button
  4. After that i've installed CM 13 by selecting the package that i've downloaded from CM website
  5. Wiped the cache and dalvik from recovery
  6. Reboot
Even i installed GApps after installing CM 13.
That's it after the first boot the sensors are not working. I've done a factory reset also but no use. Please help me out.
Sorry if there are any language or technical mistakes.
Thanks in advance. Waiting for your response.

Always take nandroid backup first before doing anything...twrp>backup
If you were on miui kitkat, first update your partition layout using this guide...
Before clean installing any rom, you have to wipe dalvik, cache, data and system.....in twrp>wipe>advanced wipe...
after that follow your steps 4,5,6

Very useful info. before installing any rom

@sushd99
Thanks for your reply. The procedure that you have given might be very useful if i've seen it before installing CM 13, but i've installed CM 13 now what should i do. If you can give me a step by step procedure it will be helpful. Anyway thanks for your valuable response.

its ok if you have already installed cm 13
first tell me did you have miui kk or miui mm....if miui kk, then follow the instructions carefully in the guide linked in previous post...if miui mm then you can skip this step...
after that in twrp, go to wipe > advanced wipe > check the boxes dalvik, cache, data and system > swipe to wipe
then install latest cm 13 or any other mm rom of your choice

Edit: I dont know about sensors issue because currently i am not using cm 13.... but you must follow the procedure before installing any rom...just google clean flash and dirty flash for extra info...

Didn't you read the post in the CM 13 thread where the dev has posted this link about upgrading your partitions and baseband versions to latest MM?

What about this fastboot i've seen a video on yt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQjg6ePnGAc
The video explains how to install fastboot/ADB drivers which you'll need to run the file in the link I have given. So with MIUI(Kitkat) you have 2 different partitions for system, modem, etc because Xiaomi was planning to implement dual boot. When they implemented Marshmallow, they merged the partitions and made system, modem as one partition only. Earlier there were 2 partitions of 600MB each for system, whereas now, ther's only one. Now to flash CM 13, you could flash it on the old partitions since CM would adapt to the partitions sizes and run. I don't know what changed now. Plus you need the latest firmware of the phone to run it which is what you don't have since you directly came from Kitkat and CM had already implemented the ROM based on the firmware. All you have to do is follow the instructions in your link. It will merge your partitions and flash the latest firmware required for CM to boot up and run without errors(hopefully). This should answer your question hopefully. If you need any more help, PM me. :)

On clean flashed sensors aren't working cause a recent commit deleted the lined which created the dirs used by sensorservice.
A fix for that is already in cm gerrit and needs some more testing before getting merged.
