which clutter up the Development and 'Q & A' threads. Point them here. Feel free to ask or answer questions.

The idea of this thread is to get users to help other users with their problems/questions. People are usually
ridiculed for asking questions that other people deem stupid even though it may be a legitimate question. This
leads to new users being afraid to ask questions!

Only provide well mannered help towards users in this thread. Please do not spoon feed, but rather point in
the direction where that user can find an answer and educate himself. If you don't want to answer, at least
point out where to find the answer.

Hi.

I have a Samsung Galaxy A7 Lite.

On all my older tablets, I have been able to use an app called Lesser Audio Switch that allows me to use any USB audio device weather it is an input or output. I can't find an app that works for this tablet. It runs Android 13. I'm wanting to use my USB DAC from the type c port. Surely there are some apps for this?

Hello, the question is not at all on a telephone topic, but I decided not to create a new topic so that they would not be banned on the very first day)) In general, this is the essence of the question: is there any possibility of renaming the bluetooth headphones, so that they are then displayed with this name when connected to other devices. for example, I have Anker life p2 mini bluetooth headphones, I can rename them on my device, for example, to “my headphones”, but when connected to another device, the name will be “anker life p2 mini”, that is, they are only renamed locally on my device. is it possible to set a permanent name that I want to assign to them? for example, airpods have such a function - if I renamed them on my iPhone to “my pods”, then when connected to a laptop or other device, this name will be exactly - “my pods”. so is there a possibility of the same renaming for anker / realme / jbl etc. like looking everywhere, but did not find it.

I have a Xiaomi MiA3 with AndroidOne 11 stock. System and apps always updated.
For some time now and for no apparent reason Ambient mode hasn't worked anymore and I can't re-enable it by following the most common guides found on the net. I suspect some components are missing, can anyone help me?

It´s a known issue from GA, anyway, you could report it to them, even when Android One has/had a terrible performance with this device (laurel_sprout), no more updates, so the issue won´t be fixed by Xiaomi.

Thanks a lot for the reply. But the problem suddenly appeared, less than a month ago, not following a google assistant or system update, which date back to last year at least.
So there is no procedure? not even a factory reset?

Factory reset could give a "little longer" "time life" to the app, but as it is not fixed, then the issue will return. I owned this device, and few days after of purchased, decided to flash a custom ROM onto it, Android One went terrible, in all Xiaomi devices I had, MiA2, MiA2L, MiA3.

PD: I referred to updates, not as your issues followed for updates but as you said "System and apps always updated.", and not, updates and support for this device is over.

several weeks ago I read about xperia xz2 that the efs-tools modding software for efs partition, which stores at least the volte/vowifi profiles (.mbn) was unmodifiable/writable using the efs-tools or others hacks.
I saw that it was for all the xz2 range, due to a lock made by sony. But I can retrieve the post explaining it.. someone could help me?

you cant mate the name is probably stored in the headphones firmware maybe the app meant to be used with the headphones has the functionality of changing the name in the firmware

Big Fan, thanks for everything Long time reader first time poster.
I have a relatively new ZTE P501 (Australia Optus X Start 3) and I have installed QKSMS. When a web site (e.g. bank, email) uses 2FA sms, I do not receive it unless I re-enable the default Google Messages program and set it as default.
Has anyone experienced something like this before or have any further info please?

Hi, USB-C port deactivate?

My wall-mounted Galaxy Tab A8 auto-charges via a thin Qi adapter connected to its USB-C port. Due to noise and heat, I'd like to disable the USB-C power output when required. Developer settings didn't help. Any suggestions how by any possible setting the Qi adapter wouldn't recieve any power from the tablet anymore and therefore would turn off?

Hey all, so I was manually uploading everything to a cloud, (I would have preferred a boot image anyday but I thought the days of TitaniumBackup and anything similar was banished by the "G"oogie Man many moons ago especially Samsung Flagships, and an AT&T variant Samsung Flagship being the figurative lowest on the customizable/rootable totem.) when I get a notice that a software update, which would be installing android 11, is ready. (For future reference I wish I knew how to stop the download somehow besides never using wifi),anyway, I tap "remind me later" and am now rushing to upload as much of the 400gb out of 500gb from the first model of Samsung Galaxy Fold as possible before I stop getting the option to postpone the installation.

So, all told, despite having more space leftover then my last phone had in total, and having a battery at 95%, the installation still failed, I'm stuck at a recovery screen with only the option to

1.)Try Again- which boots the at&t logo over and over until the same sparse type "recoverymode" screen comes up again.

2.) Delete app data, which frankly I am not sure what apps or app data it will clear, and it isn't really an option unless it only touches the supposed "corrupt configuration app data" that I can't prove it only deals with the failed software update alone.

3.) Power Down- which does exactly the same thing as try again. Said differently, no button combo would turn the device off or lead to a different mode or screen until the battery itself was dead.

4.) Is to look at some log that both the full version and the summary don't exist or won't load.

So, my question is, firstly, is there a way to just try to reinstall the update that failed, or go back to 10 without destroying all my remaining files? If not, then even with hoops to jump through, is there a way to create a complete backup?
If that's also not realistic, then next and last, which if any of the data recovery apps can save as much as possible if not all the data?


This is really just unacceptable considering I wasn't even attempting to "tamper with/tweak" anything under the hood. AFAIK the fault is entirely on at&t. And even if I could have known, I still don't know how I could have stopped it from happening.

B9oo9t animation changes with Magisk are questionable at best, The boio9t animation happens VERY early in the boot process.

However you have a relatively old phone, and therefore would have a read-write system partition. In you case, you would be better off to actually find the location (probably /system/media but that may also be a reason the magisk module fails) of your boot animation zip file (and MP34 which wont work on all ROMs anyway) and physically replace the files; first making a backup of the original for good measure as the format has changed over time.

Anyhow, my issue is: My dad has a Sonim XP8 on AT&T (it's the AT&T version of the phone). Phone is beginning to fail. I filed with insurance; they had no replacements, and paid out a check. I bought two open box ones on Amazon from a decently rated seller, checked for blacklist, they both cleared, and I set them aside.

Then I got busy, then dad got sick, got cancer, and is now on a feeding tube. His phone is worse, so I pull out the phone and try to transfer via google backup. Doesn't work. His older, failing phone (which is to say it works except the speaker and stuff is going out on it) has been updated to Android 10:

I took his old sim card, put it in the new phone, took it to the store and had them associate the new phone with the sim card. It says there's no more updates. Yet obviously there is.

'So, if OTA isn't working (unless any of y'all have a solution for that), it sounds like I need to find a stock rom, and then flash that rom onto the new phone, and then transfer google backup to that new phone.

As such: Does anyone have the latest Android 10 AT&T rom for Sonim XP8? And a guide for how to flash that over to the new phone?

@DiamondJohn & @Zelly 77 ; one small "trick" i learned on xda with swapping a .zip file (good for poor memory people such as myself or noobs , lol. l cant always remember where a .zip came from.) is to add a ".bak" after the name of the zip. it disables it but it retains its spot.
no offense to @DiamondJohn directions of making a copy. heck , do both !
