There are a lot of people joining XDA on a daily basis, and there are a lot of repetitive questions being asked
which clutter up the Development and 'Q & A' threads. Point them here. Feel free to ask or answer questions.

The idea of this thread is to get users to help other users with their problems/questions. People are usually
ridiculed for asking questions that other people deem stupid even though it may be a legitimate question. This
leads to new users being afraid to ask questions!

Only provide well mannered help towards users in this thread. Please do not spoon feed, but rather point in
the direction where that user can find an answer
and educate himself. If you don't want to answer, at least
point out where to find the answer.

Before posting anything, I strongly advise you to read THIS thread.

Then, have a quick look at the names of threads in Post No. 2, you might find what you need right away.

Third. Even if you do get your question answered, please do come back and read threads in Post No. 2
(coming later as soon as we start getting the guides) to educate yourself. You'll be surprised how much time
and frustration it will save you in the future!

No abuse towards noobs tolerated here! That means:
NO TROLLING
NO NAME CALLING
NO RIDICULING
NO FLAMING

ASK ANY QUESTION HERE! No question is stupid or irrelevant in this thread. You will either get an answer or will get pointed in the right direction.

*A Special Thanks to mark manning for his help in creating this thread*

EDL mode is not for MediaTek devices, you are supposedly to enter device in BROM or preloader mode, depending on the mode, you have to use a specific tool. I´m pretty sure you didn´t read the thread I linked, otherwise you didn´t answer this way, if you take the effort to read it, you can recover the device, if after reading thoroughly, there´s something, you can´t still understand, come back again.
Thanks!
I read in detail the thread you mentioned and followed all the steps.
The problem is that I can't make the phone go into BROM or Preloader mode.
The phone still shows as Unknown Device.

I'm not sure it works on your device, but, you might be able to open the device and use a jumper wire to make contact between two specific points on the motherboard to force the device into BROM.

Hello, I love this community and the work contributed.

I am looking for the most secure and privacy focused ROM, Apps, and phone combo this community might be using, any recommendations?

Good, this is how it works, the job starts when your device is bricked. Follow the guide, in case you read it, then read it again, you just have to change, how the device is detected, probably your device entered in some of those modes, but you need to "change" how your PC is detecting it, read about "libUSB-devel filter"

If that thread is likely confused for you, there are many about the matter, read this https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...india-6s-using-spflash-tool-for-free.4222027/

Be sure, firstly, that your SoC is supported by, and you installed properly the dependencies.

Thanks for sharing such usefull information. I have read it thoroughly. You are right my device got into some mode that is unrecognizable by windows! but i haven't figured out to change that mode.
So after knowing about "libUSB-devel filter" may i can communicate with the device at low level with custom driver etc. Do you got any info about that.
Regards!

Hey guys I have a custom rom for my device which works flawlessly but it was built for the same device but wifi version and I have the lte version of the tablet so is there any change I could implement ril by adding lib-secril.so in /system/lib and editing build.prop. Regards

mm, read the README.md file and try with --preloader option, if you´re sure the dependencies are well installed, Python and it´s path, too, then check if printgpt works.

Other things to take in account are, that some devices need to be in preloader or in BROM mode, and that preloader is not absent/damaged, or even worst, is needed a "writable" preloader, if this last is the case, some build/firmware allow, while other don´t.

And, that the Windows version is not interfering in some way, figure out how...

Question: Does anyone know if there is a way for me to receive notifications from a different android device?
I am using a deal tracker app, and when it is set to refresh fast, it decreases battery life significantly, going from two days autonomy to just under a day.
I would like to try to use a secondary device to handle this, which would remain plugged 24/7, and for the notifications to be automatically forwarded to my main device.
Any advice would help, as I do not have anything concrete in mind as to where I can start.
The secondary device is already rooted, if that helps in any way.

Without installing extra software, is there somehow, say through the shell/adb/logcat to get a history of TOAST messages shown?

    TCL used to be RCA.

Instead of focusing on brand names, instead, find out exactly which CPU/hardware architecture your device has and then find other devices that have the same CPU/hardware architecture, if one of them has a TWRP, you can port that TWRP to your device.
Thanks brother, i didnt know they used to be RCA! Man my very first brick was that cheap Voysger tablet they had years ago if you remember that thing what a chinese mess! Lol I kinda knew about the cpu and hardware part, i was just curious at the time i thought it might make searching for a finished recovery to port from easier if i knew what other devices to hunt for with same resolution as mine, helios A22 seem to be few and far between though lol. So far only other phone i found thats almost identical is a Pop 5 Pro. TCL 30 LE is what im working on if you was curious. Just havin a bit of trouble with finding mt6761 stuff for some reason and its android 12 and im afraid im gonna mess it up cuz the vbmeta image needs to flashed blank if im correct and ive never done that before either and no fastboot, have to use SP flashtool. Its weird because i can see the files and images for fastbootd inside the system files but you cant access it for some reason?? Its nothin like it used to be brother, its overly complicated but not at the same time cuz its just difficult to gather correct information most the time. i ended up figuring out how to root this thing on my own which was a pain but i got it finally lol. Looks like i have to flash to my slot a boot image for the recovery and things dont exactly match up when trying to port from an actual recovery and not a boot image that was done the same way that im having to do. Hope that made sense. Sorry to bug you though man but i do appreciate you guys help. It takes a hell of a good person to help strangers out of the goodness of their heart and i appreciate that! Thank you fellas.

No idea why this might be happening, then? ☹️
Yes, if your storage is full, it could cause this.

Another possible cause is an app that is necessary has been disabled or uninstalled.

Another cause may be conflicting cached data, in which case, the solution is to boot into stock recovery and wipe the cache partition but do not factory reset, then reboot the device.

    Hi everyone!

I am confused about VoLTE entirely working with custom ROMs, especially lineageOS. Can somebody who as knowledge about it help me out?

    Thanks!
It depends on the device, VoLTE works pretty fine with some of them, I mean, there is not a previous reason, why it shouldn`t work.

Just a few words of advice on keeping this thread clean of unnecessary clutter:

    1. Before posting a question, it is highly recommended to read this thread.

    2. Click the Thanks button on the posts that helped you, instead of posting "Thanks". This helps other members in finding out the best replies that get buried in the thread.

    3. Do not use this thread to increase your post count! The Off-Topic forum is the place for that.

    4. Do a simple search of this thread before asking to see if your question has been asked previously.

    5. If your question has not received an answer after a few hours, please be patient. Someone will answer you shortly. If you do not get an answer in 24 hours, you may BUMP your post. If you still have no answer after a week, do mention me in your post.

    Thank you for your cooperation!
