If phone is locked then installing twrp will need unlocking bootloader and that will erase data

Dont tell me that you were trying all these without unlocking code. If so, please stay back on stock and dont try custom ROM. Use dload method to restore your phone to stock ROM

Upgraded to Lineage 14.1, lost dual sim flexibility

I just upgraded my KIW-L24, and it is successfully running Lineage 14.1-20180803-NIGHTLY-kiwi. There are two things that seem weird to me, and I don't know if they are normal.

1) I have limited flexibility with my dual SIMs. Before I upgraded, I had the ability to turn off either SIM at will. Now, it shows me both SIMs, but I lost the ability to turn either off. I can configure the default SIM for data, calls & sms, but there is no way to turn one off completely. Since I can't do it through the OS, I looked at a dozen different apps. I did not find any that worked with this phone.

2) I see an app called SIM Toolkit in the app list, but I can't actually open it. It's running, but the disable button is grayed out, I can only Force Stop. Searching apps shows no result.

Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

Complete noob

Hi everyone, I have my honor 5x KIW-L21 for almost 2 years now, I have done all the upgrades honor gave and it's starting to give out on me. Mostly lags. I thought about jumping to a custom Rom but I have absolutely no idea what I should do. I've seen about TWRP/bootloader/etc and I'm very lost. Can you give me some guides to understand what I should do to try out the ROM I hear so much good about ? Currently my KIW-L21 is on build B371 with EMUI 4.0.3.

Thanks in advance

You are too late to get your official bootloader unlock code from huawei, as they stopped that service less than 2 months ago( just bad timing). I don't know if there's a unofficial way. The bootloader has to be unlocked to do anything else, as you can't root without it being unlocked. You can't install TWRP also. You need TWRP to install a ROM.

Which firmware to use?

Hello remaining 5x users, I have a KIW-L24 that my daughter uses and I am ready to unlock it(I have DC-unlocker setup and ready to go) and flash TWRP and a custom rom but I read in one of the threads that we cannot use a firmware that has volte enabled. I don't really care about volte. I have no idea how to figure which is the right firmware to use. The phone is currently on B351. Any insight anyone might have would be very helpful. Thanks

Battery

So my question is after flashing a custom rom do i need to wipe the battery stats from twrp to calibrate the battery propely? , because i read it from somewhere that you need to wipe the battery stats because i notice from my current rom lineage 14.1 my battery drains alot quicker and charges longer.
