Is there a way to install stock recovery with S-ON? If so, how would I go about? I've only found methods that needs S-OFF, but I haven't gotten a solid confirmation that S-OFF is needed to do this. My goal is to install the OTA updates on my international M8.

Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Make sure you have the right version for your phone and you have renamed the recovery to recovery.img

I tried flashing recovery, but all it did was removing TWRP, and whenever I try to install the OTA it goes directly to fastboot and nothing else happens. If I enter recovery I get directed to fastboot as well. It seems my custom recovery just got wiped and the stock recovery failed to install.

fastboot erase cache

Then try to flash stock recovery again. Erasing cache resolves many issues with recovery not installing correctly.

As you've already figured, it looks like stock recovery didn't install properly for some reason. Make sure its the right stock recovery for your version.

You do not need s-off to flash stock recovery. You may be misinterpreting the instructions.

Doesnt look like there is any orang001 ruu thou :(
A lot of US users here don't realize (or forget) that RUUs are only available for US versions (as far as I know, anyway).

Okay, I've done this now and the same thing happens. This was my procedure:

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery "stock recovery 1.54.401.5 recovery.img"
fastboot reboot

Still goes to fastboot upon entering recovery. My device's CID is HTC__Y13 for the record. I might have removed some bloatware and stuff with TWRP; do I need to install a new stock nandroid, or does that even have to do with anything?

I have a background image I really like but the colors make the status bar difficult to read. Is there a way to change the settings so that a background image fits in between the status bar and the nav bar?

Thanks
You could change the status bar colors.

Any error messages when you flash recovery?

The filename shouldn't have any quotes around it when you actually type the fastboot command. Also, if you type it they way you've indicated (with a space after the number) the syntax will also be wrong, I'm pretty sure. Try changing the file name to recovery.img

And yes, if you modified any system files (which bloatware would qualify) this will prevent you from installing OTA. You need to return those files to their original state, and nandroid is the easiest way.

Is there a significant difference with Dalvik and ART mode with this ROM? I understand it supports ART mode but does anyone notice anything really different like battery life or overall smoothness?

Specifically with version 21.0 on a GMA Device

I hope you can help me as I am a complete newbie.
Last night I tried to convert my HTC One M8 into a Google Play Edition using a video on youtube by sakitech (can't post it here).
I also used his videos to gain root access and s-off my device.
But when I tried to "fastboot flash zip," everything stopped. After this i couldn't boot my device. It's stuck on the htc screen.
I can boot into twrp but a lot of things don't seem to work there. I can't restore (i made a backup) and when I try to launch sideload nothing happens.
Thanks in advance!

I've been having an absolute **** time at trying to unroot/untampered my HTC One M8 which I am returning due to a defective speaker. Nothing is going right. It is not S-Off but is unlocked and "tampered".

How can I remove the unlocked and tampered flags when Firewater doesn't work(due to my device being 'patched by HTC')? In other words, how can I remove the flags and return fully to stock?

Cheers

Sunshine is your only s-off option then.
