HI,
some of my customers get a message Sim card not from verizon after they enter unlock code on their moto e4 verizon. i have sold many unlock codes for this model and rarely get customers facing this issue.

Does any have working solution for this issue? I belive this is gsm phone and should work with all sims.

Thanks for any help.

Hi there!
I have a Verizon Moto E4. I bought unlock code on e-Bay, so now phone works with other operators, though it says "SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless". I checked it with ATT sim card and right now I use H2O network. To work with other operators I setup phone using this instruction.
I have a couple of questions:
1. They say the bootloader of Verizon Moto E4 is unlockable. Is it still true?
2. Any chance to install TWRP and root?
3. Any chance to flash it to International stock firmware (to get rid of Verizon bloatware)?
Thanks in advance for answers.

Are there positive answers for any other version of operator locked Moto E4 (e.g. Boost Mobile)?
Yes, the boost mobile version can be bootloader unlocked and rooted.

Keep in mind the boost mobile version has no fingerprint sensor.

I have several Metro PCS E4s (xt1765) and one Verizon branded E4 that I use as my daily driver (xt1767). A few questions:

XT1765 (MetroPCS):

-- What's the status for Bootloader unlocking and rooting for the XT1765? I see posts saying the Boost version is rootable, but I'm not seeing much on the MetroPCS version. EDIT: was able to use the instructions in the "root question" thread to get the bootloader unlock code direct from Motorola's site. I'll start messing with this stuff later (getting a bad key error on boot now, but it still boots up fine after that. need to investigate that).

-- Also...kind of unrelated, but does anybody know if the carrier unlocking via MetroPCS (to my knowledge, they'll unlock phones after three months) can be done if the service lapses? e.g. I only paid for one month of service, but the service lapsed about a month ago. Will I be able to unlock it using the unlocking app three months after my original purchase/first month's payment?

XT1767 (Verizon):

-- I bumped a thread in this forum from another user regarding updates for the XT1767 when the phone is carrier unlocked, and wanted to go ahead and post that here, too. My XT1767 was unlocked using an eBay code, and I'm not seeing any updates (on 7.1.1 with the May 2017 security patches) when I go to the update section in settings, and it appears there have been some updates for the phone according to some forum posts I'm seeing. Any tips for this?

General/Misc questions:

-- Does anybody know how to disable the Google Assistant shortcut for E4 variants with the fingerprint reader? I have Assistant turned off, but the shortcut (long pressing the FP reader) to open/enable Assistant opens up all the time if the phone is lagging a bit. I just want a long press to turn off the screen like a normal short press does on the FP reader.

Thanks!

Does the Verizon E4 have miracast? I am not able to cast the screen to my FireTV, it will not detect the wireless display at all, while it works for other phones.

Wondering if my device is defective or the E4 does not have miracast?

Please help with my bootloader. Moto E4 (Sprint Varient)

I've unlocked my bootloader for my Moto E4 2017 (Sprint Varient) by using the devices unlock key from the motorola website, it worked, but everytime I boot up my phone it first displays a black screen with the words "bad key" in the top left for 10 seconds, then it proceeds to boot normally. I've tried to relock the bootloader, but adb asks for a signed system.img, but my stock image folder doesn't have that! So I need a stock image for my Moto E4, and for the Sprint vaient as well, can anyone here provide me with a system.image?

Why do you care if it says bad key?

Are you flashing the latest twrp build from here? https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e4/development/twrp-twrp-moto-g4-qualcomm-t3655160
Assuming you have a qualcom model. One problem could be the stock recovery reflashing when you reboot. Make sure the file I circled in the screenshot I attached is renamed with the .bak. Otherwise, it would be helpful to know what device model and carrier you have.

The black screen with N/A is actually the bootlogo you get when the bootloader has been unlocked, but with no logo. That's perfectly normal. I believe there are other metro pcs users who have flashed it successfully, but I may be wrong. If your selecting reboot to recovery after flashing twrp and it's booting right to the OS it's probably an issue with twrp. You should post your issue in the twrp thread, maybe @squid2 can help.
Edit: another thing, you really shouldn't have to run the erase recovery command. The erase command can screw up certain partitions unless your only using it on a partition like modemst1 and modemst2 which is pretty much just modem data. Hopefully you didn't screw up your recovery partition.
