guys I'm trying to unlock my moto g4, but the motorola website keeps giving the error "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking", and talking to them by tech support, it didn't come to anything, there's another way to unlock the bootloader without the motorola key?

Likely the carrier had Motorola block unlocking.

Sunshine app unlocks some of the older Motorola devices.
Don't think they have added any newer devices for a few years.

Looking for general 'rom' info re: G4 (not Play or Plus)...

Greetings.

Due to a 'long story' being made short, I have just upgraded (downgraded actually) a G4 (not Play or Plus) from Lineage 15.1 back to stock Moto 6.0.1, and Moto/Lenovo Tech support told me that I will not be able to upgrade it back to 7.x (the phone isn't giving me the option so I checked with Tech Support).

Based on what I have seen (and the above link), it looks like Lineage 14.1 is the only 'upgrade' that works with the G4... is this correct?

If anyone else has been able to use anything higher than 14.1, can you tell me what you used and point me to the correct spot to get it and the instructions?

The 15.1 I had installed wasn't working... it kept telling me my phone was a Pixel and wouldn't recognize any SIM I installed. Not even sure why I installed that one.

I can now insert my existing SIM from my other 'everyday' G4 phone and it works, but I want to upgrade to whatever the latest ROM version I can in this phone so I can start using it (the 'everyday' phone is starting to die, can't afford a new phone right now). I'd really like to get ver 9.x Android :)

Anyone have any information that I can use?

Thank you and have a great day.

Help moto g4 no update

Friends I want to update my moto g4 xt1625 amazon prime to nougat, I am in compilation 139.64 and the update does not arrive, so I would like to do it manually, I already have the software ATHENE_AMZ_NPJS25.93-14-4_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC but I would like to know how to do it I flash without losing my data and through fastboot or RDSlite if the method works. The equipment is original, bootloader locked and not root, it is like new, it just needs that little push to bring it to android 7.0. Help me plis!

Hi All.

Well, I'm not sure 'which' step I ended up doing that screwed everything up, but this is the background info:

For this phone (the 'extra' G4 xt1625) is still on the 'original' Moto 6.0.1 system. However, it is on the retail version, but it appears that I should have flashed the CC (Consumer Cellular?) version.

If I insert the SIM card, it is not recognized (or is, but doesn't work) and I cannot make calls, text, or use data (unless it's Wi-Fi). It works pretty good other than that but it doesn't do me any good. The 'every day' phone has been giving me some issues and I'd really like to get the spare set back to where it should be.

Now, to yesterday and today's antics:

No amount of flashing attempts, either using ADB or even using the Lenovo utility, is allowing me to reflash the phone. I spent most of yesterday reading thru the forums trying different tricks, and then installed the Lenovo software. When I ran it (multiple times, multiple ways), it kept erroring out and tells me that the flash cannot be done.

One of the issues I have is that it doesn't 'recognize' the IMEI, it shows a 0 for the number. I found a topic about that issue, but some of what was stated makes no sense to me.

At this point, I am out of ideas as I haven't been able to do anything. The phone is in good shape and still is usable, but if I can't flash it so I can use it, it's dead.

Any ideas? I appreciate anything at this point... can't afford even a cheap smart phone right now, due to COVID.

Thank you all... have a great week :)
