Didn't you have to flash different modems/basebands to get it to work on a network other than sprint?

So you are using a Sprint XT1056 with a CDMA carrier in India. So it really depends on what steps you took to make the CDMA portion work with your carrier.

If you are using a Stock Sprint XT1056 rom, with its default settings and did nothing by pop your India SIM in there, then even with the Lollipop rom, I would expect your phone to continue working...

HOWEVER IF you had to do any changes to the phone, then I could see the Lollipop update as a potential cause for issues. Are the same settings there, can they be manipulated the same exact way, etc.

So I know that I can't answer for sure if it will work or not.

We've seen XT1056 and XT1049, which are CDMA based for Sprint, work with CDMA carriers in India before. In most cases, I thought it was Stock ROMs and radios being used. I do not recall if they had to tweak/edit authentication strings, the build.prop, or anything else.

Hey guys, I bought a moto x AT&T XT1058 that was unlocked by the seller from ebay, from china. I have received it(received it rooted aswell but locked bootloader) and it is working nicely so far. I'd like to ask though when and if the lollipop update rolls out to AT&T will I get the update while I'm here in the UK?

Thanks

There is a link in my signature to a thread that contains multiple sites to try. Have you tried them all?? (I know the FileFactory link still works -> http://www.filefactory.com/file/38q6rpe04nov/VZW_XT1060_4.4.4-KXA21.12-L1.26_CFC_1FF.xml.zip )

Also, the Verizon XT1060 Retail and Moto Maker variants use the same Rom/Recovery Images as the Verizon Developer Edition XT1060 variant. The the "Developer Edition" recovery images are available by request directly from Motorola (HERE). Moto's page also has the steps to use mFastboot to flash it. (or just see the PreRequisites and Option 5 at -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-ReturnToStock.html )

Now, I realize that there seems to be a discrepancy between the version number stated on the web site and on the file you receive now, compared to the number shown on the phone after flashing (see -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/xt1060-weird-build-version-t3122215 ) BUT if you are just turning it in due to Edge plan... then it shouldn't matter. I would think being bootloader unlocked and showing warranty voided would matter more, if that even matters.

I was able to get it to stock, though it can't relock the boot loader and shows that unlocked bootloader image on startup, I was able to get back to stock with Motorolas guide though they don't provide you with mfastboot which was frustrating when your flashed the system.IMG, I'm about to go to Verizon soon, do you think they will restart it? I was gonna ask if they can give me a box so I can ship it to them when I have gotten everything off it, which is cover for the unlocked boot loader on start hopefully

Nexus 4 is a more powerful choice, moto x is nice and close to stock, motovoice and the notification display is pretty great

Complete noob /:

Hello there, I'm not new to rooting amd stuff but that was years ago. So i know some stuff about rooting and installing roms. I'm thinking about buying the moto x 1st gen verizon variant. Since it comes loaded with verizon apps amd delays of android OS updates, is there a way I can install the international OS on the phone? (I did the same with my S3 from ksa to international OS and it worked fine) if there is such thing, could you be kind enough to guide me to that? Thank you for your answers. :)

As for rooting, You should make sure that the devices is on 4.4.2 because thats the only version that can be rooted/unlock bootloader. As for using it internationally, its a cdma phone which you should only need to go to Verizon to ask for a sim unlock key which i have no idea if they will let you

There are 3 states for the 2013 X bootloader. (listed on the Fastboot AP menu)

Locked Status 0
Unlocked Status 3
Locked Status 2 (aka relocked)

We can toggle to Status 2 or 3, but not back to 0. The unlocked warning will show as long as the Status is not 0. Once you've unlocked your bootloader you can hide the warning by flashing a replacement LOGO.BIN. (see the info on -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-Bootlogo.htm )

Moto used to include the Moto Fastboot for Windows, Mac and Linux in their 4.4.4 Dev Images, at least the last time i downloaded them...

The 1st Gen Moto X is getting a little "old" and nearing the end of its life. After the 5.1 update, there is a chance we wont see any more updates.

Next, take a look at this -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...w-root-moto-x-confusion-t2826159/post54671918 As it tells you your options for Rooting and unlocking your bootloader. Short version, get a Developer Edition for Verizon if you want to be able to root and disable write protection. Also note: that unlike other phones, unlocking the bootloader on the 2013 X does NOT disable all security features of the phone, there are still parts of the phone you can't flash or downgrade. (its explained in Item 16 HERE)

Keep in mind that to flash any non Verizon XT1060 Stock Moto rom, on a Verizon XT1060 phone you need to unlock the bootloader.

The Variant of Moto X you have, or software you are running, doesn't speed up getting updates by more than a few weeks to a month.

Because verizon uses CDMA for voice, sms and 2G/3G data, Its not so simple to just flash an international ROM. The modem files are different, there are settings in the Build.Prop, as well as a few other things.

AND because of the implications of GPT.BIN and the components of Motoboot.img, you might encounter troubles flashing to another STOCK Rom, or flashing back to the Verizon ROM. For more, see -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-warning-risks-downgrading-impacts-t3058202

Not true. The Verizon XT1060 comes SIM Unlocked out of the box (due to FCC 700 C Block auction rules). You can pop non-Verizon SIM in the phone and use it just fine.

However, the way @AnaShizzle worded the post, it appears as if the question was around flashing international ROM to speed up getting updates, rather than flashing an international rom to use the phone with non-Verizon SIM/Carrier.

Ah, I apologize for my information being wrong regarding the simcard, though that's very interesting it comes simunlocked already! Also, I took it to Verizon and somehow made it out alive with my droid turbo, the man helping me wanted to factory reset it in store so we both SAW the boot loader unlocked warning. It made my heart stop when he took a closer look but he shrugged it off and handed me my new phone, I don't recommend anyone else doing this, its pretty risky, I feel bad for the guy I hope I didn't get him fired or something, though he said he was an iPhone user so he didn't know too much anyway I'd. Now was for that warning again like kidjoe was talking about. I tried multiple different no logo.bins on my moto x which none of them worked, I even had one where it didn't turn on my phone, the LCD wouldn't come on and it would keep vibrating, I had to manually go to fast boot and restart it from there. Did I have to use mfastboot? Also I know the different between clogo.bin and logo.bin so yeah.

There was a change in the format of the LOGO.BIN files. The symptoms you are describing happened when you are using the wrong ones.

A . . the man helping me wanted to factory reset it in store so we both SAW the boot loader unlocked warning. It made my heart stop when he took a closer look but he shrugged it off and handed me my new phone. . .
I asked about this (returning a bl-unlocked phone) in a Verizon company store some time ago, and only a senior manager knew what the heck I was talking about.

And his answer was interesting . . . "No we would not accept an unlocked phone for exchange, but we don't check for that."

I always FDR myself before handing a phone over to anybody. And the simple solution to power-up is to flash an official-looking logo.bin like KidJoe was explaining about. I have one that works perfectly on my Droid Maxx, 637kb (vastly similar to the MX13), can upload-attach it if needed.
[Edit] But you're already done with that, so nvm.
