Hey everyone,
I'm currently trying to update my ex-rooted Moto X 1052 to 5.1. I flashed the stock recovery and made a factory reset. Then I tried the OTA update but it just failed. Does somebody have an idea what else I could try?
Android-Version is 4.4.4 and Build-Nummer is KXA21.12_L1.26 if relevant.

Hi, after searching and reading through 20 odd FAQ's I could not find it.

Hence my question; I have a Moto X and on 4.4.4. At the moment I get at multiple times the lollipop update nag screen. How can I remove this nag screen and stay on 4.4.4.?

Thanks,
Michael

Roms or even different carrier firmware won't change your radio bands. So that likely isn't going to help you.

As far as your specific question about changing the firmware, that I'm unsure of. Sorry! ;)

If you're rooted, you can use titanium backup to freeze Motorola OTA app and a couple others. See this thread,

Good luck!

I have another problem, whichever 5.1 rom I install whenever I connect to WiFi it reboots so like a boot loop that displays the lock screen.

Thanks in advance

For anyone,

Curious if I add in my AT&T SIM to my Verizon Moto X (2014) will the phone work with AT&T data and Verizon voice? Trying to get my girlfriends phone to use my data since she is so data usage adverse that she won't hardly use the phone and she is stubborn about just moving to sharing on my plan with AT&T.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T817A using XDA Free mobile app

No. Verizon's 4G phones use the SIM to register for the LTE Data, as well as Voice, phone number, mdm, etc.

Which ever sim you insert, will dictate the voice and data service you get.

The same old 4.4.4 question, slight twist....

I'm hoping one of the true experts here will have mercy & give me a 100% trustworthy answer on this, since I can't find any real agreement by searching/reading (and I have)....

Here goes:
2013 VZW Moto X, bone stock, 4.4.4 (assumed OTA by prev owner...)

I'm somewhat familiar w/ what 4.4.4 did to any chances of "safely" rooting/downgrading this phone.
Here is my "slight twist"--- I WILL NEVER KNOWINGLY DOWNLOAD/INSTALL AN OTA UPDATE ON THIS PHONE
EVER. In fact, the VERY FIRST THING I'll DO, if I can root it, IS DISABLE ALL THE MADDENING OTA UPDATE CHECKS/REMINDERS.

With that said, is there any option/method for me to root this phone on 4.4.4 stock ota?
(I'm assuming all the "one-click root" stuff is bogus, risky crapware??)
If so, will I be able to run either stock(non ota) or custom ROMs >4.4.4?
Finally, will it burn all bridges back to 100% "stock" 4.4.4? (not a big issue for me, just want to know for the record)

If I could get a final definitive answer on this, I'd be pretty thrilled. If there IS a definitive answer to these specifics that I missed, a link would be so appreciated.

Thanks so much.

XT1060 Lollipop - Issues and Question

This is my first post on here, so please bear with me and my "noob-i-ness". I've done a lot of reading up on here in the past as I researched how to root my VZW XT1060 Moto X. The most definitive answer relative to my particular model/carrier I found here.

So last week I finally got my OTA update for 5.1. So far the upgrade has been great but there have been a few issues I've noticed and a general question I had.
Issues -
"Sticky" notifications: I've noticed that quite frequently I'll have an item in the notification bar (most recently I was uploading some files to Google Drive so there was an "Uploading docs..." "notification") that even once the process is complete I'm unable to swipe it out of the notification bar. Has anyone else had this issue??
Question -
Now that I'm (kind of) running the latest and greatest (at least for the next week), I'm not sure this matters, but does the latest OTA update to 5.1 on the VZW XT1060 change anything when it comes to unlocking the bootloader?

Sorry in advance for the stupid question. But Is there anyway to make the icon in the top right to go to the Quick Settings Panel bigger? It's really tiny for some reason right now.

XT1052 Stagefright Update OTA

Hi, I got the OTA notification for the update to patch the Stagefright vulnerabilty.
I have a rooted phone with 1/2 root apps running, and TWRP recovery installed. I know that to take an OTA you have to have no Root, and Stock Recovery installed. However, I can't seem to find a way to put back a stock recovery on my phone...
I got a copy of the full XML file for the current firmware I have on my phone, LPA23.12-15.
Is there a way I can flash the recovery only, not the entire firmware?

Even I want the answer to it. Please Someone help with this or someone can provide that as a flashable file without changing the root and recovery if it is possible.

Same process you used to flash TWRP is used to put back stock recovery...

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

where recovery.img = stock recovery file.

I'm having a problem with mms messaging. I know I need to use data to use it. I used to get an mms message without the picture downloaded and could and could click WiFi off and download the message. Now I don't even see a message and can go all day without knowing I'm missing a message until I leave WiFi. Is there a fix for this?
