Xt1053 xt1056 xt1052 they can root easily and bootloader can be unlocked too :D dont think about xt1058..

Greetings.

I'm thinking about buying an AT&T XT1058.

I was looking at these phones last year, but we were still in the age of the locked boot loader. I absolutely despise branding and other limitations so I want full root.

Now it looks like I can root this phone and install CM... without any issues, or can I?

Is there any reason that I should NOT get this phone? Would an XT1060 be a better choice? Another model? I know that a developer edition or 2014 "Pure" would be easier to deal with, but I can't afford that right now (Lots of cheap xt1058s out there).

Thanks a ton in advance for any info, opinions, snark, sarcasm, litotes or other input.

Flashing complete stock rom from rsd will surely fix all the above problems, just be sure you choose the correct rom of your model number dont make any fusion or cocktail.. :)

Does returning to stock using RSD lite or manual flashing also return the partition filesystems to default. I may have messed with the /data partition file system, will flashing to stock change it to default?

---------- Post added at 12:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:48 AM ----------

If your device is detected by rsd then just flash the latest stock rom for your device and you will be good to go :)

I checked with rsd lite...it says:

Device Properties:
ESN:
Technology: N/A
Software version: N/A
Flex Version: N/A
Bootloader Version: N/A
DRM Version: N/A

Can I do anything to flash a new bootloader into my Phone??

does the moto x is a good phone in battery terms?

in the reviews everyone says the battery is ok but when it comes to users most of them says it has a pathetic screen time (2-4 hours). Is this true moto x users?

does disabling active display and touchless control help significantly?

Since I finally found a thread where I can ask all my questions,
I have a Verizon moto X xt1060 with locked bootloader and a write-protected root (No changes can be done to system while in ROM). I want to flash a custom recovery to my phone, but apparently, first I have to unlock my bootloader which possibly can not be done once I am on 5.1 lollipop. Is this it?
My first priority is to unlock my bootloader, and second to install a custom recovery, so my questions might make sense if you keep my priorities in mind.

1. My first question is if I can, by any method, revert back to any previous version of android from 5.1 (non-OTA update, I flashed it through RSDLite from here.)? Can I flash another (OLDER) Rom the same way?
2. My second question is that If I somehow reverted back to a previous firmware, would I be able to unlock my bootloader? (not necessarily the official way!)
3. My third question (finally)is if I can't unlock my bootloader now, and thus can't install a custom recovery, can I flash any apps package (not necessarily a ROM or recovery) while in ROM through any app? Keep in mind that I have a write-protected root access. Thanks in advance

The Non-Dev Edition of the Verizon XT1060 can not unlock its bootloader once its been flashed to 4.4.3 and up. (4.4.2 and lower can use Sunshine). With a locked bootloader, you can only flash the STOCK ROM digitially signed by Motorola for your model/carrier, or any parts of it. i.e. you can not flash a custom rom with a locked bootloader.

As for answers to your numbered questions...
  1. No. you can not downgrade to an older rom. The important parts which could be exploited by Sunshine to unlock the bootloader can NOT be downgraded. (see the link about GPT.BIN/Motoboot in my singature for more details)
  2. No, see #1
  3. as for "apps package' depends on what you mean. If you mean apps to install to /system, then for that you need to be rooted, PLUS with write protection enabled, you can't permanently save anything to /system. That being said, I am aware of the process to intentionally soft bricks the phone back to the Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader mode which does allow for flashing a pre-rooted rom, but it does not disable write protection. I consider this a risky process because I've seen difficulties with returning from QDLoader to working phone. Again, since write protection is still enabled, anything that you add /system which isn't part of that rom, would be lost at power off/on. (normally installed apps/data wouldn't be lost).

I had this option in mind and I do want to try the soft brick method. Can you guide me to any thread that guides this process?

I have a Verizon XT1060 developer edition that is unlocked and rooted and from what I understand I can't roll back to kitkat. Is it safe to flash with Cyanogenmod 12.1 which is also lollipop though?

If it is unlocked and rooted you can also flash stock KitKat or stock lollipop. Although no one will guarantee you safety on flashing either stock or cm ROM.

CM flashes /system. Not the radio, or other parts. So it should be safe to flash, but I don't know how it will react with newer radios.

Hi, i have an at&t moto x 2013 i got from china on ebay. It was already 4.4.4 with unofficial bootloader unlock (china middleman or sunshine, idk which one) with TWRP and with baseband unlocked. I am currently using it with Rogers in Canada. I would like to install a 6.0 MM custom roms. I would like to know if i should reflash stock recovery and stock firmware before updatating to OTA 5.1. Will i lost my unofficial unlock from sunshine/china middleman when it update the bootloader to stock lollipop ? I plan to reflash lastest TWRP and install some custom roms. Thank for the answer guys.

Once unlocked it will stay unlocked, official or otherwise.

flashed wrong baseband (radio)

I'm using a moto x xt1052 (Asian version)
Its running on cm12.1
It has unlocked boot loader and is rooted.
The issue:-
I went roaming some days before, so I put phone in flight mode for a whole day. When I came into the non roaming region, I turned off the flight mode and the network won't just register. Its been some days now, so I tried flashing the radio again and it seems as if it was a wrong radio and now my phone won't show any network signal, and the worst part : no imei.. Imei says 0.
Now, what can I do? Any idea?

Hi everyone, complete Android noob here, hope I could get some help regarding my new phone. ;)
I got new unlocked AT&T XT1058 with Android 4.2.2. and I update it to version 139.12.54.ghost_att.ATT.en.US, still on Android 4.2.2.
Now I keep getting pop-up notifications for update to Android 4.4. critical update, system version 140.44.5.en.US size of 326.5 MB.

Regarding battery life, is it better to stay on 4.2.2. or update to 4.4. ? What are pros and cons of updating to 4.4. ?
If I decide not to update, how can I get rid of this annoying pop up msg asking me to update?
And is there a way to root this 4.2.2. version 139.12.54.ghost_att.ATT.en.US? I would like to remove bloatware and make some tweaks to the system...

Thanks a lot for any help! :)

If the bootloader is unlocked, flash TWRP custom recovery then install supersu.zip

KK contacts app on LP

Anyone know if you can run the kitkat contacts app on lollipop? The lollipop app doesnt have the group option anymore and i use said option for work, so its super important.
