im planning to make a thread on this soon in the general section.. A lot of people are asking the same question again and again in several posts.. So i think redirecting them to my thread would be easy for everyone... Just keep yourself updated on the general section i will be posting A COMPLETE HOW TO GUIDE for the people who have messed up the stock firmware by xposed, root or flashed custom rom etc who are wanting to get back to pure stock in order to receive 5.1 OTA on any model of Moto X it will be a easy guide for the newbies also.. Untill then just wait...

I have posted a "FAQ" to taking OTA updates in the past.. it gives the rules of the road for taking an OTA update.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/faq-kit-kat-how-to-prepare-carriers-t2536735 . (there might be a newer thread, but I can't find it at the moment) It does include ways to return to stock, but was written before TowelPieRoot, Sunshine, etc. so a slightly revised version is at -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-OTA.html

While based on Kitkat, and the 4.4.2, and 4.4.4 updates, the info pretty much still applies for Lollipop... EXCEPT it does not cover those who jumped the gun and installed the leaked 5.x tests/soaks.

I don't know that I'll have time over the next few days to update it, and add that additional info.

So if you want to use that as a basis for your guide... OR point to it as to why the guide is needed... go ahead...

@azu89 until an updated or new guide is produced, that info is enough to get you started.

Hi, I'm facing an issue with 'OK Google ' hotword detection in the Google app. It says that it is currently unavailable on this device. Does anyone know how to fix it?
I don't use touch less control because it randomly keeps switching on without me saying the hotword.
I'm on stock 4.4.4

Thanks in advance.

You need to have the Moto Voice off to use OK Google hot word.

You're right, it shows as 'incompatible with this device'. Weird.

So I guess I'm the only guy facing this problem :p .This really sucks cos I can't use touch less control due to its random switching on problem and well OK Google says its incompatible with my device. Brilliant

Hello , I have a Moto X first gen Verizon model . Stock Bootloader locked and non rooted. It was working fine and just randomly switched off and won't completely boot back up again, It is stuck at the Boot screen with The Moto X Blue Logo . Running 4.4.4 . I tried doing a reset it didn't work. I tried going into recovery it didn't work , it comes back to the boot logo.

Any suggestions ? Please help. ?

If you are stock and unrooted and this "just happened" there is a very good chance you have a hardware issue.

Power off the phone (sometimes when the phone doesn't boot, holding the power button will be required to turn the phone off). Then leave it plugged into the wall charger for at least 1 hour.

The first thing I would try is the "External Reset" process at -> https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/94936/p/30,6720,8696 let us know IF you get stuck at any step. Please note the step number, and what happens on your phone. SORRY THIS WILL WIPE YOUR DATA AND APPS!!!! But this will make sure its not an issue caused by any 3rd party apps or recent updates.

Keep in mind, that if this process is successful, and the phone starts to reboot, it may take a little longer than normal to fully boot up and come to the Initial Setup screen/process.

If the phone hangs the same way as before when starting, its very very likely you have a hardware issue. I mean, if you can get into the FastbootAP menu, you could try re-flashing the stock firmware, but it probably wont help.

Thank you for your reply , I am not able to power off the phone it just keeps restarting and coming to the motorola logo . How do i do the external reset if the phone does not power off? Edit: I am also not able to enter into recovery as it triggers a bootloop once more.

If you were able to get to the menu to select recovery, that is the FastbootAP screen...

When on the FastbootAP screen, connect the USB cable to the PC. If you have properly setup Android SDK/Platform Tools on your computer you can do a factory reset on the phone via the following command...

fastboot erase userdata
fastbooot reboot

NOTE: you could use also mfastboot instead. In this case, fastboot vs mfastboot doesn't matter.

Since you can get to the Fastboot AP menu, if you want to try reflashing factory firmware, you can. The Verizon XT1060 Retail and Moto Maker versions use the same Rom/Recovery Images as the Verizon Developer Edition phones. The the recovery images are available by request directly from Motorola (HERE). From there, you can use Options 3, 4 or 5 from -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-ReturnToStock.html

But unfortunately I expect you have a hardware issue.

Once again thank you for replying . I just want to make sure that I have a locked bootloader and that flashing through mfastboot is ok?..

Update: The phone just randomly booted into the APFastboot menu with the reason: Boot Failure. Any ideas?

At this point, I'm 99.99% sure it's a hardware problem. If the phone is still under warranty, call Moto. If not, I'm afraid you'll need to buy a new phone.

Unfortunately I can't do either of that , I am a student and saved up for 3 months to get this one , Maybe I could flash TWRP recovery and flash a custom rom?
