I still can't figure out why I can't access my phone storage. Internal has been mounted within TWRP , but my files are not detected if I look under file manager. So the phone sees the internal storage, and shows the amount of storage, but can't move files into it. Any ideas of a fix?

@sd_shadow, I'm glad I searched before creating a FAQ for Moto Z. One of yours for another device was what I was going to imitate anyhow. :) Thanks. I needed a quick replacement device, hoping for something pre A/B, lucky to find a Moto Z on sale. Now, to search this threads and likely post some questions. Thanks again.

I'm curious about the Moto Z's compatibility with magnetic mounts like the Tech Matte MagGrip. I know that the Moto Mods use magnets to stay in place, but do they interfere with magnetic mounts? Is there space to slip the MagGrip plate (or similar) between the phone and a Style Mod? Would the plate even work through a Style Mod (or a Battery Mod for that matter)? Should I have posted this in the Moto Z accessories board? I'm hoping that since the Z seems to be in hands of reviewers they might have magnetic mounts as well they can test it out on; (and further hoping those reviewers are going to see this question and answer it)? Did I totally mess up on that usage of a semicolon? Oh man, am I rambling?

Thanks in advance.
I have a magnetic aukey mount for car vents (similar to Tech Matte Magrip as i see the pictures), the magnet on the moto z sticks to it strongly and no need to stick any of the metal plates included.
So no metal, no issues with moto mods.

Edit: jesus what a bump, thats what happen when you dont read the dates.

Moto Mod issue

Hello,
I hope this is the right thread for my issue, so here goes:
My Incipio Power Pack Moto Mod isn't detected by my phone.
At first, I thought this was a hardware issue. But when I tried attaching the mod to my phone when it was shut down, it worked.
Furthermore, the Moto Mod Manager doesn't seem to work anymore, it always keeps crashing on me.
Does anyone know what software issue I am dealing with?
Thank you. :)

Moto Z stock rom installation

Hello! I forgot if it was this forum I had an account with but considering it was in 2014 I cannot find it, and I have not done a rom installation since a Galaxy i9000 so my request for help is the following.

I have a Moto Z XT1650
Would somebody be able to give me a clean and simple guide to installing a clean stock Android ROM?

Not only is Marshmallow no longer supported I believe given Lenovo's past controversies I wish to eliminate the factory ROM as it may have manufacturer telemetry services ie Spyware
I am aware Google services does these things, but Google is very transparent.

I would also like to know if I have to do anything to keep the google apps by installing a stock android Rom?
Thank you!
I would appreciate the help as I have been looking for a tutorial but I don't exactly know what I am doing, besides the general theory and I am feeling overwhelmed ^^

May I contact you if I have any questions?

I have a piece of software called RSDlite, I haven't used it I just have it downloaded and ready, it's what you use to flash stock roms to motorola devices, I guess it's the Motorola equivalent of Heimdall
can I use this to skip the need for unlocking the bootloader installing a recovery thing?

Since the guide mentions that I can (optionally) get GApps I am supposing that Griffin is a custom rom image.
Do you have a clean simple ROM that you could recommend that could be flashed onto my phone with RSDlite? I'm just after the stock experience, I am aware that it seems official Android stock roms are considered proprietary now sadly.
Ie you're expected to buy a new phone to "properly" get these builds.

Of course it's a custom ROM and you can't fash a custom ROM without an unlocked bootloader.
There is no way to flash this ROM with rsdlite, the orginal bootloader won't boot a custom ROM, as far as I know the original firmware its signed by Motorola.

Once the bootloader its unlocked using the instructions and the key provided from Motorola (you have to ask them for it) you have to flash a recovery a custom ROM, and google apps if you like.

Ah now I understand, so it not that simple now.
And unlocking your bootloader is a warranty voider I presume.

Thank you for that info, it seems the landscape has changed even more since I last and first looked into custom android solutions.
Would I be better off taking the official Oreo update (which isn't available when updating with check updates) since I want to stay stock?

Yes unlocking bootloader voids warranty (and maker an awfull message appear when the phone boots :-/)

I believe than you can found official updates in this forum that can be flashed.

Hello all I just bought Moto Z Force xt1650-02 and wanted to ask that can it be flashed with ROMs from Moto Z, as they have same GPU and cpu, I know I shouldnt ask here, but there doesn't seem any rom or root for this device, without root I can't use a device, still I can tolerate stock recovery but root is must.
