So I have had my Moto Z for a few months now. I've been using the eject sim card trick to use the hotspot and it has worked like a charm up until about 2 weeks ago. Now it is suddenly dropping data only when I use the tether. I have restarted, reconfigured, etc. I have all the latest updates and haven't rooted this phone once. I am curious if anyone else is having this issue. What's strange is that my wife's Note 4 also started dropping connections whenever she uses hers. Her phone isn't rooted either, she uses Foxfi. Can someone steer me in the right direction? Has Verizon forced me to root my device? I have the old unlimited data plan on both of my lines.

Hi,
could someone explain what is meant by "Griffin" vs. "Sheridan"? I see it referenced a lot but if it's explained somewhere I managed to miss it, sorry
Thanks!

No I don't think so

Moto z XT1650 have 3 different models
Sheridan
Griffin
Sheriden-china

I don't know all of differences but one of them is back temp sensor of Sheridan (Griffin don't have temp back sensor)
and china model has some differences on battery charging

In /etc files i found this 3 files in attachments
If anyone wants to find out, just compare this files

Hi, thanks for your reply.

sd_shadow, erfanoabdi is right - I just got ahold of unmodified US retail single-SIM XT1650-03 and Thai retail dual-SIM XT1650-03 and they're both identified as Sheridan on the bootloader (not Griffin, and not Moto Z Force).

So Sheridan and Griffin are code names for particular hardware revisions with different components (temperature sensors etc.)? Is there any way to find out exactly what the differences are/when did the changeover happen, considering the phone hasn't been on the market that long?

I have an unusual problem, in that my Moto Z always boots to TWRP. The only way to boot the ROM is first to boot bootloader and reboot bootloader a few times and then select Start. Any idea why and if there is something I can do?

Hello guys, I can't get my TV to appear on the Cast option. It still works on my other phones.

Is miracast not supported on moto z? Does it work on some/any custom ROMs?

Thanks in advance.

Hi !

I recently installed Lineage OS on my Moto Z. Unfortunately I can't remember whether the left infra red sensor was working or not. Anybody with lineage installed so kind to verify that this is just an issue of lineage os ?

Thanks in advance

my moto z is gone, i changed for a samsung note5, but firstly i was able to manage problems and bugs on moto z . First of all I installed turbo kernel, and twrp latest one. After that I put pure nexus Rom 7.1.2. Sincerely tested 2or3 days before give away . Everything's work .

Once when I was using the quick camera gesture, and I heard some weird popping sound. When I shake the phone up and down it pops. I think it may be the OIS, but if any of you know what it is, please answer.

Why the OK Google detection from anywhere not working on my phone? I've tried multiple roms.. it just won't work.
Currently I'm using the unofficial lineage os 13 April build with Pico gapps.

Moto Z, any way to screen mirror to Automotive Nav Screen?

Hoping one of the experts here can help with this. I bought the Kenwood DDX 9703S that has a 7" screen, it's supposed to offer screen sharing with Android phones via the Kenwood Mobile App (limited to certain apps like Waze navigation.) This sharing is done via the HDMI cable from the unit. Android Auto works with the USB-C just fine, but I wanted to use Waze. I failed to read the fine print that the phone must have MHL or HDMI support, and in any case the phone specs don't even address this. Does anyone have any ideas for a work-around on this? I hate to return the Kenwood, that involves having the techs uninstall it and put my 7 year old unit back in. Or I can just live with the reduced functionality and only have Android Auto. Only other option I have at this time is pay off my contract and get a different phone, and it'll have to be an older phone since they're the only ones I can find that support HDMI/MHL. Thanks in advance for any help.
