Hello

I'm just wondering how updates for the Xperia Z actually work. My phone is a C6602 bought from China, which I flashed the .253 Generic Unbranded Australian Firmware for C6603 into from this forum, and I live in New Zealand. My carrier doesn't sell the Xperia Z but the SIM card works for it. From my knowledge, only Vodafone NZ Xperia Z's have gotten the 4.2.2 update.

My question is:

Do the updates depend on the country from where you bought the phone, the country in which the ROM is from, or the country which you are living in?

Thanks

You receive updates based on the current customisation number of your phone. So, unless you change the customisation number, you will now receive updates for the Australian unbranded version of the phone.

Contact Pictures

Hey everyone,
I've just gotten my Xperia Z (yay:laugh:) and everything is going great.
I just have one question, I imported contacts from Facebook and the phone brings in the pictuires as well which is great, but the pictures are all pixelated. Any advice to get those pictures to look better?
Thanks!

How to deodex stock rom

Dear OP

I am curious to find a way to deodex my stock rom
All the available rom that exist now is a custom rom that have been edited with their own creator taste

All I want is a stock deodexed rom for running the theme and mod for Xperia Z

Thank you so much
And sorry if this question already answered before

Not sure if this is the right place for hardware questions, but...

The headphone jack cover on my Xperia Z broke off and I lost it (the rubber thingy attaching it to the phone is still there) and without it my phone is no longer waterproof. Sony have said that it won't be covered under warranty even though I never dropped it or anything; it just broke off. I have found somewhere that sells the headphone jack cover (http://rounded.com/sony-xperia-z-l36h-headphone-cover-white.html?sl=EN ) but I was wondering how I would go about replacing my current one. Would I be able to attach the new cover to the current rubber attachment or would that not work because it's plastic?

Any other suggestions, because while this doesn't particularly bother me, it means the phone will lose loads of resale value as it's no longer pristine condition or waterproof.

Thanks very much, and please direct me elsewhere if this is only for software issues.

Sorry for the late replies, I've only just gotten back home.

I'm using .423 but already tried with .434 and .253, but it's the same thing, I seek the tv, he thinks, and then the time to connect, it just disconnects before the image appears on TV, the strange thing is that in cyanogem worked perfectly.
Try getting a logcat. I don't have a compatible TV, so I cannot check if this problem is specific to your device. :(

How to set wallpaper full on Xperia Z?no cut

You need an aspect ratio of 1:1 i.e. a square I think. 1080x1080 should be the best resolution I think.

  1. Yes. The phone is designed to prevent dust & water from getting into the device.
  2. Performance is good. Battery life is decent for it's large 5" 1080p screen.
  3. The phone gets hot. If you don't like it, get a case so it feels less hot when you're holding it. The phone mostly gets really hot when playing games or using heavy applications.

The choice is yours. Read some reviews, do some research, and choose what you think best suits your needs.

Here is a (mostly) Stock deodexed Rom (Requires unlocked bootloader).
Or deodex and zipalign one yourself. Use dsixda's Kitchen (This should work, but I'm not 100% sure).
You'll have to do some reading on how to use the kitchen.

This thread is for any and all device related questions.

Use a strong rubber adhesive. Glue the cover to the rubber attachment.
Rubber adhesives will definitely work, but make sure that you don't close the cover till it dries, otherwise the whole thing would get glued in.
Also, ensure that the water intrusion indicator is still white, meaning that water hasn't gotten into your phone. If it isn't, then it has already lost some of it's resale value.

Thanks for the advice. The indicator under the headphone cover is actually slightly tinged pink from condensation, but no water has got into the phone and the other indicators are still white. I've found out from the supplier that the new cover comes with the rubber attachment pre-connected (also the rubber attachment on my phone itself has sunk back into the phone, although I could probably get it out again if needed). Should I cut off the new rubber attachment when I receive it and use a rubber adhesive to connect it to the old attachment, or open up the phone and try to somehow insert the new rubber attachment?

Thanks again for the help.

Well, read your question again and decide what seems more sensible. I definitely think you should use a rubber adhesive on the cover as opening the phone up is something I frown upon.
Try not to cut it off, just pull the rubber attachment loose from the cover.
Also, try and be gentle with the covers, they are a bit fragile when open.

Backup your /data through recovery & copy contents of your internal sdcard to a folder on your external sdcard using a root file explorer like ES File Explorer.
Perform a repair through SUS.
Restore /data & internal sdcard.

which firmware should i flash in order to run SUS?

my current firmware is 10.1.1.A.1.253 C6603 Unbranded Sweden :( my device is c6602
Just run SUS and repair. Don't bother with firmware version.
SUS will flash latest available version I think.
Then restore TA after that.

If that cannot solve it, try to flash a full .434 or .253 ftf using flashtool.
Then restore TA after that.

If that too cannot solve it, you're hard bricked. :/

Hi after I factory reset phone, so I.could start a fresh, playmemories album sync and camera upload no longer functions which is a shame as I use this feature quite regularly.
Has anyone had this issue? Thx in advance

It probably means you need to update the Album app via the software update app. Have you actually done as it suggests and looked in the update section?
