[newb alert] Help in unlocking bootloader :/

I already made a thread on my earlier problem with my sensation and got a lot of help from malybru and so decided to go ahead and at least unlock the bootloader and install cwm for my Xperia Z but it seems I can't even follow basic simple instructions given on official Sony website for unlocking the bootloader.

I keep doing everything fine till point no 10. (http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions) but after they instruct you to turn your phone off and press fastboot button (i press vol+ when inserting usb cable ) all that happens is a blue notification light comes on and a windows sound and no option to install drivers come.

I once pressed vol- instead of vol+ and it windows installed automatically drivers with name like s1 or something.

What am I doing wrong please help!!

My build no: is 10.1.1.A.1.253

Please also answer the following:
1. Should I keep usb debugging on or off while this process ?
2. Why are there other ways available to unlock bootloader other than the official version given by Sony? Is it because you pros prefer some other method because I read other versions which seem a little weird for eg this thread (http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Bl...r-Unlock-Recovery-amp-Root-Guide/ba-p/8163838)

I own a Xperia Z (india)

Please help me out. I seem to be having problems in even unlocking the bootloader right now! forget flashing custom ROM'S

Hi after I factory reset phone, so I.could start a fresh, playmemories album sync and camera upload no longer functions which is a shame as I use this feature quite regularly.
Has anyone had this issue? Thx in advance

Try clearing data for these apps.
Get aptoide & swipe to the updates section. It might show an update for album (Give aptoide 5 minutes after opening, close & reopen it).
Download and install the update. Don't worry, it won't update unless the signature matches. :)

First, disconnect your phone from the PC and install Flashtool drivers (Especially fastboot & flashmode drivers from the bottom of the list).
After the drivers are installed, reboot your PC (This is a must for refreshing the driver stack!). After rebooting, conenct your PC in fastboot mode to check if drivers are installed properly.

Before unlocking, please backup your TA partition.
You can proceed with the instructions, they should work fine now.

As for the other questions:
  1. Keep USB Debugging on permanently if you plan to make any software modifications to the phone. In a situation where you are unable to turn USB debugging on due to software instability, you'll be thankful you left it on.
  2. I don't know. I only suggest the official version. :)

Thanks for the link and suggestion. Gonna start this right away

Thanks you so much. I appreciate it :good::highfive:
Good luck :good:

Hey everyone,
I've just gotten my Xperia Z (yay:laugh:) and everything is going great.
I just have one question, I imported contacts from Facebook and the phone brings in the pictuires as well which is great, but the pictures are all pixelated. Any advice to get those pictures to look better?
Thanks!
I missed this question from before, sorry.
Like @XperienceD suggested Sync.Me is good.
Another good one is UberSync.

Boss I did what you said. installed fastboot and flashmode drivers and windows automatically instead of point no 13 (http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions) windows automaticallly installed the drivers and each time I connect it using fastboot method my phone has a blue light and in the taskbar I get a notification saying S1 fastboot device.

I opened the command window (I opened it in C:/Android under which the SDK folder from Android site I downloaded) however on entering
fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version all I get is

'fastboot.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

I only installed the flashboot and flashmode drivers and did not select the Xperia Z drivers? Is it ok?
and from the instruction list it seems I totally bypassed point no 13 and I went straight to the next point since windows never asked me for drivers??

UTTER CONFUSION HERE!

HELP PLEASE!

I am still stuck at point no 12 only difference is now I get a notification when I connect the phone to the pc while pressing vol+ which says "s1 boot Fastboot device" and on further opening up devices menu the name reads Sony ADB Interface.

*** ALRIGHT! Got it up and running. The only problem was that I kept opening the cmd window in the tools folder (seems Sony isn't noob friendly in giving out instructions as we are supposed to open cmd window in 'platform tools' folder)
After I cleared this hurdle rest was easy .

Thanks guys . But I will need to keep checking this thread as I need a lot of help.

You're behind, mine is currently 4.0.A.0.8.
There's a link coming for you here. Just gimme a couple of minutes to upload it for you.
You can download the files from here.
Put it in /system/app/ & set the permissions to 644 (-rw-r--r--)

Warez detected! I'm not sure that Aptoid is legal :p
No. Aptoide is as legal as bittorrent.
Aptoide is an open source android market replacement.
But unlike Play Store, Aptoide doesn't host the files.
Files are hosted by user's stores.
It is up to you what you choose to do with it.
I use it to download free apps that aren't available for my device due to dpi change, is that illegal? -No.
I only asked him to do it to get the latest version of Sony Album.
You can read a bit about Aptoide here.

Hey,

I'm currently borrowing a friends Xperia Z to see if I like it & He has already unlocked the bootloader & told me to go ahead & flash any/all custom roms I want to (I adore the phone but I'm not a huge fan of the software).

My assumption is that I can flash whatever ROM i want (I'm thinking CM10.1), to the device but If i want to return it to completely factory stock I can just re-flash it using SUS?

Am I correct In thinking this?

Thank you in advance

SUS doesn't work on unlocked devices. You need to use the official flashtool (Emma) and flash an ftf.

I have a small problem with the proximity sensor.
While watching videos in landscape mode, the proximity sensor will switch the voice between the loudspeaker and the ear speaker. The switch is triggered by my fingers. Is this normal or is it too sensitive?
Does anybody know where the proximity sensor is located and how it should work?

I've never heard of this problem before.
What ROM are you on & what app are you using for video?

As for the location of the proximity sensor, it is located near the top right side of the camera near the led indicator & light sensor.

I'm on the 4.2.2 stock ROM with O2 UK.

Now I had a bit more time and installed a sensor diagnostic tool. I managed to find the proximity sensor and it's OK.
The problem was caused by the loudspeaker in the bottom right corner. I didn't notice it and sometimes I touched it together with the proximity sensor and that caused false positives. :)
I presume it's normal that the sound switches to the ear speaker if you touch the loudspeaker. It's new to me, but now that I know, it's OK. Thanks anyway!

Hey guys. Did a search for L36H and read every thread, but still not sure.

Does anyone know if the L36H model sold in China is a full 6602 including all 3G bands? I travel between Asia and Canada and want the AWS 1700/2100 bands.

Also, it's safe to flash any 6602 rom/radio onto the L36H? Planning to buy one in China as I work here, but want to make sure I can flash an international firmware so I have full access to Google stuff.

Thanks

Haven't been to China, but I have a friend he has the the unlocked Xperia TX. Downloaded fb app here in Canada but cannot be opened in China.

I think c6602 is more for north America since it has 1900 for 3g. But it doesn't matter, better to go with c6603. C6603 works here in Canada too, and there's a thread that shows you how to enable LTE here in Canada.

I think China uses c6603 bands. Or better yet head over to Hong Kong and purchase an unlocked c6603 then fly to China. Hong Kong sells c6603, I don't know what bands are used in China, hope is not that much different than Hong Kong.
