Hey everyone,

I've been experiencing deteriorating performance from my Verizon Galaxy Note 2. I got it in 2013, and it's been my daily driver since. Over the last year the phone has been giving me more issues. About 5 months ago, it would actually de-mount the system, cache, everything, to which I'd need to reflash the rom on ODIN. Things were laggy but tolerable until about 2 months ago, when the phone started crashing randomly. Now it crashes and reboots at least 8-14 times a day. This can be from using apps, or just from sitting on a desk on its own. I've always done decent maintenance on it, reformatting it when it needed it, but now, after clearing the cache and data, it's doing better, but is still lagging from just changing pages of apps.

Since I accepted the 4.4.2 OTA update, my bootloader is locked and I know my options are super limited. Is there any way I can eliminate the laggy behavior? I don't mind using non-stock roms (in fact I was planning on doing that before I found out about the bootloader being locked), but what works with the bootloader locked? I've heard about safestrap and some other solutions, but I'm not skilled in roms enough to feel confident trying something without more experienced opinions and advice.

Here are some specs for my device:
Baseband: I605VRUFND7
Kernel: 3.0.31, [email protected] #1
Build #: KOT49H.I605VRUFND7

Any suggestions, guide links, or advice is greatly appreciated! I can't afford a new phone just yet, but push comes to shove I guess I have to do what I have to.
