im trying to s-off a nexus one(passion). it creates the goldcard just fine,but when i power on into hboot,the phone spends several seconds considering the notion,then gives an "unknown fail!" "update failed!" and the yes/no reboot option.
it appears to not like the passdiag.nbh file
the device is unlocked,but from what ive read,some folks have used the clip to get radio s-off,then relocked their bootloaders,so it doesnt seem the lock status to matter.
i have tried making the gold card with different usb ports. i have tried .35.x017 diag with the ship .35.0017 and with the eng .35.2017. same result. i tried the .33.x012 diag with both those hboots as well.
i downgraded the software/firmware back to the 0.33.0012 hboot,and tried both the .33 and .35 diag files with both the .0012 ship and the .2012 eng hboots. all same result
ive also tried clearing storage in hboot,wich didnt change anything either.
i found a passdiag file here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18232961&highlight=passdiag#post18232961 ,wich haS A different md5 than the passdiag created by the clip. i flashed the 33.2012 eng(for convenience of getting back to .35.2017) hboot and tried that one. this time it just hung,for several minutes before i pulled the battery. im on stock 2.3.6,and didnt think that it should matter,but i will try downgrading the software as well later.
i hate to post questions,but ive done a bunch of searching and havent come up with anything yet...
can anyone help? any advice or a link to a known,working,good passdiag file?

p.s. i do realize blackrose gives eng s-off,like the factory eng hboots,and that with his flash image exploit,we can change all partitions,so there is not much real advantage to radio s-off. my other devices are radio s-off,and i hate to settle for eng s-off,if i dont have to
