The app you refer to seems to require root and at present i am stock, unrooted. Is it just a case of flash with GB and hope ?
Yeah...factory reset might have triggered the bug....but since that cant be checked so its a case of flash GB using PC odin and hope for the best!!!

Touchwood! :fingers-crossed:

Just flashed via Odin, now back on GB 2.3.6.

Thanks for all the help
Glad you are safely back to GB. :highfive: Now you can flash the safe CM9 based roms or if you really want touchwizz based roms them flash those custom roms that have the Franco, speedmod etc kernels where the emmc brickbug command is blocked :)

Enjoy your Note!

Updated with the Q14 regarding how to go to CM10 roms.

Please people dont flash the CM10 rom when on any stock ICS or stock ICS based kernels. Its a sure shot brick and we want no more. You have to be on a CM9 / AOKP rom/kernel or any AOSP rom to proceed.

Edit : GB to CM10 also works.

Somewhere in Oz...
hi abhisahara,
my note still stock ISC 4.0.3, stock kernel LPY,
So, can I root using this method by Drketan?
could you tell me the safest way to root LPY stock?

Procedure
1.Reboot to recovery.(press Vol up+home+power, once you see samsung screen release power button)
2.Choose apply update from external storage. (use vol up/down to select, power to enter)
3.Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
4.Choose install zip from sdcard (Now use touch function to select choice)
5.Choose and Install SUPERSU-Busybox-Installer.zip
6.After finish flashing select 'Go back'
7.Select 'Reboot system Now'
Done !
This will Reboot device and you can see SuperSU application in drawer, open it and update.
CWM.zip method is no longer considered safe:- read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810954

First of all, thanks Abhi for taking time out in helping us with this great and informative post.

I have few questions which I think someone here can help me with.

I am currently on Hybrid TMT MIUI rom with a kernel which I suspect is un-safe. Here are some screenshots.

As you can see from the screenshots, I have a 'se.infra' based kernel. Could someone please guide me on how to shift to a safe kernel/rom?

I am currently enjoying the ICS and Google Now (which I flashed from zip via recovery from here)

I would prefer shifting to a safer ICS with Google Now enabled, however, if GB is a safer option for me, I wouldn't mind that.

Or should I just stay with the Hybrid TMT MIUI rom for now? Can I update to newer builds of the Hybrid TMT MIUI roms without risking a brick?

Thanks.

First off, you are safe running TMT/MIUI hybrid provided

a) you do not do a factory reset

b) you do not flash another Rom from CF--Root CWMR, because it allows unsafe updater scripts to issue dangerous commands

However, I'd move to a safer kernel/Rom combo if I were you. You can do it without any dangers like this:

1. Download Triangle Away, put it on your SD Card.
2. Download Notecore 14 kernel for PC Odin, put in on your PC.
3. Download Cleanote v5.00 Rom. They say it is very fast with full features, but you can select some other custom ICS Rom if you wish. Put it on your SD Card.
3. Start PC Odin 1.85 or 1.87 (Google for it if you don't have it)
4. Click on PDA and select the Notecore kernel
5. Put your Note into download mode (volume down + home + power)
6. Connect the Note to the PC
7. Wait for Windows to install the necessary drivers and for PC Odin to show yellow highlight with COM (number)
8. Hit flash

Now you are on a safe kernel, and you can flash the Rom of your choice.

9. Boot into CWMR
10. Do a full wipe (factory reset, cache and dalvik)
11. Flash CleaNote or some other Rom
12. Install Triangle Away app and run it to reset your binary counter
13. All done

Sorry to necro, but it's a sticky thread and this seems the best place for my questions.

From the OP:
PS - If you are using the Prerooted Stock Roms from the above link then after PC ODIN flash of the stock rom of your choice just download the corresponding CF Root Kernel (i.e. if you flashed LC1 Rom, download LC1 CF-Root kernel) and flash it through Mobile Odin to inject CWMR.
Few questions:
1a) does an odin flash with rooted stock ROM trigger the yellow triangle? I'm guessing not.
1b) can the reverse process also work: flash first the CF-Root kernel, then flash the stock ROM minus kernel.
The advantage I see with this way is you don't need mobile odin--saves some work. I believe using the batch file from Chainfire to install the CF_Root kernel also doesn't trigger the yellow triangle. But in december 2015 who cares about that.
1c) is it possible to only replace the stock recovery without also flashing a kernel? (How is this one not a FAQ :p)
1d) Assuming I use a rooted kernel without CWM (i.e. has only stock recovery), what is the most efficient practice of flashing new ROMs/kernels, from phone--if it is possible?the flashify app?
If I do have a recent version of CWM recovery, will the ROM Manager app be a good choice to flash ROMs?

1a No
1b No becouse a flash replace the kernel/recovery
1c No, Kernel & Recovery is one file.
1d Read the sticky thread or use the forum search. All written here 1000 times. ROM Manager is not a good tool for our device fir flashing Roms!
