Hey all, before I had a Motorola Defy, now I am with an Atrix 4g :)

My basic question is, what should not do to brick my phone? should I update it? Like I said, I came from a Defy, Defy has a locked bootloader so it is almost impossible to brick it, now I am a little scared with the Atrix hehe. Thanks !

you shoudn't flash an sbf file that is not the same as your current version. to update or not to update, that is entirely up to you. if yoh're satisfied with a gb os (2.3.x), don't upgrade. if you want ics (4.0 4) or jb (4.1.x-4.2.2), then update. just unlock the bootloader, root your phone, and enjoy

Should I use the updater that is under About phone -> Updates?

you could if you wanted, but most of the updated versions are available through the rom superthread thread in the development section. just be sure to pay attention to carrier specific roms if you chose to use one of them. and i did just see your post in another thread saying that you were on froyo. after seeing that, i would say yes, upgrade your phone to a better os. gb works great, ics and jb work well and will work better now that we have the new kernel, but expect bugs to be present, but they are still very usable roms

Yep, I am currently on Froyo 2.1, it has some lags on lockscreen.

By the way, my phone is unlocked, what rom should I pick up? do you recommend using About phone -> Updates to update it? thanks hehe :good:

How about you do some reading on your own? It's not like the information is not out there. It's all here, in great detail. You just need to read it.
Can you imagine the chaos if every new member decided to skip all the reading and just opened a new thread?
