I am wondering why this works for some, and not for others. By any chance are those for whom it works using firmware other than the Hong Kong version? Thanks!

Hiding Status Bar

I'm one of those for who Honeybar worked and Hidebar didn't - it hid the status bar fine but rarely showed it again.
Then just recently, after installing a new status bar theme, I gave it another try and surprise! Both Honey and Hide were working.
Has to be noted that to show the status bar with Hidebar is not enough to touch the bottom of the screen. A brief rubbing in any direction is needed, in the area where the bar normally is. Neither the invisible back button option works too well, it also requires a rub to activate and in the process it makes the status bar reappear too.

I have tried honeybar and hide bar and neither were really acceptable here were my issues:
Honeybar worked great for the first hide then it un-hid no problem. However after that the white box i needed to tap designating the tab region slid up above the status bar when it became un-hid. From then on tapping on the box or in the original tap spot yielded no result.
hide bar hid the bar like it should have but then i could never get the bar to come back reliably. I tried the bottom tap option and the multi top/bottom tap option and it never just worked. Also after the bar was hidden the ghost back button never worked. There was one time the bar came back but it was after a flurry of taps and drags.
there have been updates to honeybar since i have used it so maybe they fixed my issue i do not know.

I'm working on a port of the hide status bar from power menu mod from 10.1. I am close...should be ready fairly soon.

I was hoping the same thing. An option to choose the offset from left to right. Because in portrait mode on the 7.0 plus I had the honeybar area covered the menu button. But to the right there was open space. So an option to move it to the right would be awesome. Im no coder, but it doesnt sound like it would be too hard?
honeybar have the function to offset the button... it inside the app option ...
You can try Gesture Control.
It allows to hide/show bar and control device with gestures (Back, Home, show/hide bar). And it doesn't lag like honeybar.
