Tell me about it! I'm not one to wish time away, but...Same here. These final 36 hours are going to be excruciating.
Actually, the HTC One has built in amps. So, all other things being the same, the HTC One will have superior sound.I'm going to disagree on the audio: Beats is over-rated. All it does is artificially crank up the base and change the equaliser settings - it's unnatural and makes mincemeat of anything but heavy R&B or techno music, for which it is, admittedly, well suited. Not only is Sony winning plaudits for the audio quality of the XZ through headphones but, as an Xperia S owner, I can testify to the fantastic quality of music that Sony phones produce.
And if you want Beats-like equaliser settings, just flick the EQ on the Z to "Unique" - it does exactly the same thing.
Might there be some space to say that sound from the One may be louder? Possibly. But how much will that extra amplification affect battery?
that depends on the ampActually, the HTC One has built in amps. So, all other things being the same, the HTC One will have superior sound.
It depends on whether all other things are the same!Actually, the HTC One has built in amps. So, all other things being the same, the HTC One will have superior sound.
HTC phones have gone back to the sensation XE/XL days, they don't have any equalizers just beats on or off.It depends on whether all other things are the same!
As I say, Beats audio is sh*te. Now, you CAN turn it off (woo hoo!) but you'll be missing out on ClearAudio+ and headphone surround sound (which is ace - chuck your music onto "studio" setting and it's sublime,... unless you're listening to classical music. In which case, chuck it onto "Concert Hall"!)
There's more to the Walkman app than simply "playing" an MP3. This is one of the areas that Sony always nails.
Oh, and I understand that the HTC music app doesn't have a graphic equaliser. Though I may be wrong.
With the greatest of respect, I understand that you spent 1/2 an hour with the One and the Z but I'm not sure you'll have had enough time with both to say so conclusively. While I get that the One has an amplifier and the Z does not, and a louder sound will always sound "punchier", there's more to music than volume.HTC phones have gone back to the sensation XE/XL days, they don't have any equalizers just beats on or off.
I wish they made it like the one s/x last hyear when you had beats plus others aswell and you could also select headphone type.
Saying that I still feel with beats off that the one has better audio than the z
I agree, and I'm pretty sure Sony has quite a bit of experience in music quality, like you say there's more to music than volume. With the greatest of respect, I understand that you spent 1/2 an hour with the One and the Z but I'm not sure you'll have had enough time with both to say so conclusively. My Xperia S isn't the loudest headphone experience ever but it's up there with the best. Having listened to a One X playing music and compared the two at quite some length with identical music on both, I can say with absolute resolve that the Sony sounded better, even though it was quieter.
What I WOULD say is that Headphone Surround Sound really IS something special, and I'd be sad to loose it if I traded my Z for a One. Playing classical music in Concert Hall Mode is breathtaking.
With this in mind, I'll not make concrete opinions on the audio between the Z and the One until I've done a good, thorough test.

I admire your dedicationU know that the HTC One X and the Xperia S have different dacs?
In the case of the HTC One and the Xperia S, most likely the Dacs should be the same, and therefore quality should be identical, save for the AMP on the HTC One.
As far as equalizers go, there are a multitude of music players available that are most likely superior.
But hey... keep telling yourself that the Xperia Z is better![]()

Your comparison inst valid.Keep telling yourself that the HTC One is better.
It's all a matter of OPINIONS....
Like "Timaustin2000" said before, louder volume doesn't have to mean that something is 'punchier'. If that's so for him, heck! then let him be.
It's like comparing yourself to an athlete for example that does the 100m below 10 sec, he might (most likely) be better then you at that discipline and you might be better at something else....
Aka it's all about opinions.
(Just accept the fact that he thinks that the Z is better for him)
What are you doing here? You are clearly not getting the Z, so why don't you just move over to the HTC One forum? Do you love arguing?Your comparison inst valid.
In the case of the HTC One and the Z, the hardware is the EXACT SAME save for the amp.
In the case me me vers a professional athlete, the "hardware" is quite obviously different...
So you only want Yes men? What are you doing here? You are clearly not getting the Z, so why don't you just move over to the HTC One forum? Do you love arguing?
Yes they are both phone.Your comparison inst valid.

Yes you're both humans (In most cases all of our hardware IS the same, unless you're born with a handicap)Your comparison inst valid.

I agree with this I mean just look at apple, the iphone 5 hasnt changed much since the iphone 4 yet it is still selling in its millions. So you only want Yes men?
I'm here to voice a dissenting view. That is a good thing not a bad thing like everyone thinks.
I want Sony to make a great device, as it would be better for all Android users.
Want to know what is bad? Sony making a substandard "flagship" and having it sell well. it tells Sony that they can make a product that is inferior and people will still gobble it up.
They dont have an incentive to improve...
You have opened my eyes, I will cancel my pre order. I will order a HTC one as it is as perfect as a Dimond. Or maybe it's better to wait for the s4 because it might make the one as worthless as scrap metal. So you only want Yes men?

Now, now. Some people clearly have have a personal problem with the Xperia Z. And given it's launch day, it must be painful for them seeing so many being bought and admired - so depressed they are that they have nothing better to do than to argue about something they'll have absolutely nothing to do with on an internet forum. You have opened my eyes, I will cancel my pre order. Didn't know we were having a competition here of who has a better phoneBut hey... keep telling yourself that the Xperia Z is better![]()
