Jayman: Maedhros is clearly trying to compensate for something.

He is also the god almighty with all the answers. He works at both Sony and HTC (and at Samsung in the weekends). Do not argue with him, i repeat, do not argue with him.

Man... and to think, people used to complain about HTC Fan boys.

It seems as it is now Sony Fan boys who refuse to listen to valid criticism and can only respond by making personal insults.

I didn't realize ppl on XDA were still in high school :)

Every company, celebrity, ect. Has their own loyal fan base.

I don't think a Lady Gaga fan would take kindly to criticism of their 'idol'.

I'm no fanboy, but if i have to choose, i'm leaning towards Samsung, or.. i did. I'm thinking about converting to the religion of O Holy Sony (sounds nice doesn't it?)

But fanboys aren't the problem here.. or maybe a little. The problem is you trying to dictate what's best between the Z and the One. You don't even own the Z, and the One isn't even on sale yet. Do you see the problem? You don't see me over at the HTC One forum crying and screaming that the Z is better than the One. You don't see me running in a mosque screaming "Jesus is da maaan!".

We don't care if the One is the "best" one. We are here because we want the Z, and we are discussing the Z. Not the One. If you want to discuss the One, then go to the right forum section. That is all.

It's like trying to talk to a deaf man, it can be really hard.
Specially when you don't talk sign language (his language)

It will be really hard to put some other ideas in his mind.:p

I pity him, he's decided this phone isn't for him so he just wants people to buy into his idea so he can feel personally satisfied that he has made right decision.

What reason is there for him to stay in a forum for a phone he is not interested in buying.

It's incredible. People still walk around with Blackberry's, old iPhone's, very old Nokia's, etc. So many people don't have money for a flagship phone.

And here, I see people going mad on the subject Xperia Z vs HTC One. Do you realise that both phone's are AMAZING. Stop for a moment and realise so many people have old, crappy phone's, low end phones.

It's like we are talking about Ferrari vs Lamborghini, while most people are driving simple normal cars. This year, ALL FLAGSHIP phone's are very close to each other. Like I have said many times, after years it finally comes down to personal preference. There isn't one phone that out performs the other anymore (for example: the Galaxy S2 which just was better then it's competition 2 years ago, smooth 1080p flash playback in the browser, others just couldn't do that). That S600 processor in the One won't do ANYTHING the XZ can't, both have very powerfull CPU's (and they have the exact same GPU).

In the end it comes down to personal preference (yes, design, UI) and if you like the One's design and HTC Sense, then good, buy that device. I don't like the One's design (build quality is something else, that's very good). I think there is a lot of wasted space around the screen, I think the HTC logo between the button's is just horrible.

I like the XZ design and it's UI. End of story. There is NO BETTER device this year. They all perform extremely fast and smooth, they all take great pictures, they all show the pictures on a beautiful large 1080p display, they all can use the same apps from the play store. The differences are too small to matter more then personal preference.

I agree about 90%. But what happens is that people are discussing the Xperia Z, then you have a couple of fanboys who come out of nowhere and say things like "the Xperia z is the best phone ever, the HTC one sucks cause its not waterproof, the S IV will suck anyway cause its made out of plastic "blah blah blah so of course the HTC and Samsung guys are gonna respond to that. Then Sony guys come and say " well it's the XpEria z forum, why do you come here and bash the Sony" some childish sh*t

Your probably referring me in that last bit:p. But it's not justified.

That's because I've said it to one MAEDHROOS, who has decided a long time ago that he will not buy this phone because it doesn't meet his expectations but he loves slating anyone who says anything good about it.

usually it's Sony have failed this...Sony has failed that.... HTC are the ones who are meeting all expectations....Sony has released an outdated device - that's the best one!!

It gets kind of annoying, I was spending days on this forum just browsing and then I lost it!!!

My point is why spend all your time criticizing a phone you have DECIDED NOT TO BUY??

Its not a bad phone. I like it but others may not. Its all personal preference

Agree 100%.

By the by, however, now that I have the Z I can say this:

I would be genuinely impressed if the One actually did sound better than the Xperia Z: Music on the Z sounds fantastic through headphones. Clear Audio + is very much like Beats but it's far better balanced. If you like the Beats-y sound, use that. If you don't, don't: it's all good.

I'd be happy to concede if the One does sound better but I tell you this: it's got a serious fight on its hands.

I have loved HTC for years, owned a Tytn, touch Dual, Sensation XE, Htc One X and so on. I got my XZ yesterday. To my mind, in there own way, they are or were, all great phones. The One X was quite simply the best phone I've ever owned. The XZ has surpassed it. The HTC One will be a great phone. I just preferred the Sony's styling. And it's great that Sony, who set the trend for Walkmans and TVs way back when, are back in the mix. I also have a MacBook Air and an ipad 3. My wife has an iPhone 5. I love them all, not so much the iPhone TBH, it's being left behind Android IMHO, but it's still a very good phone.

My point is that it would be so much better if we all talked about the positives instead of the negatives. Which phone is best is just semantics. We are at the stage in technological development where it's now just down to personal preference.

Somebody said it about a particular user that they come here to justify their decision not to buy. Ill argue that's the same motivation we al have for being on this board. Myself, as a US resident unwilling to wait, I just bought a galaxy note 2. Now I check back everyday to tell myself it was the right choice. That I really am not missing anything. Ill probably keep coming back till either I get bored, I trade my Note 2, or get sucked into the marketing machine of whatever the "next great" phone is..

Good idea, but will you spend your time trying to tell everyone how rubbish everything about this device is? Coz that would annoy people wouldn't it? Especially if you don't own it therefore dont have first hand experience of it.

Hey, after owning this phone for one day i can really say i was very dissapointed with it! The battery life was terrible, i got it down to 50% in 4 hours with moderate use! The in-call speaker quality was really bad also, giving a light distortion and very hard to stay talking for too long. However the walkman feature was amzing, the quality through the headphones were great. Sadly though this was not enough for me to keep the phone, so i took it back today. Dont know what to get now though. Im getting fed up of Android, with each company trying to out do the other, my phone does this my phone does that my phone can **** a rainbow! Seriously thinking about getting an iphone something i thought i would never say!....Sad times!

50% battery after 4 hours on your first day is actually really good.... the phone battery life significantly increases during standby (and when using aswell) after a few days. It's because your phone needs to build up the cache which allows it to load everything far quicker without working harder for it. Therefore wasting less battery.

In regards to the other things...well if it isn't upto your standards then maybe this phone isn't right for you. Try it a couple days and give it a chance though. Everytime I get a new phone theres many things that annoy me but a lot of it is about personally adjusting yourself.

Well i did not know that. To be honest it scared me the battery life being so bad. Im a hgv driver part of a 2 man crew, so im ont the road anything up to 15 hours a day. So i need the battery life to at least try to get me through the day. I know granted there arent many that do, but im serious when i say this phone lost 20% chargse in 2 hours on standby with me just turning it on now and then when i died in Dota :silly:

Let your phone fully discharge and charge to full for at least 4 continuous cycles and it should help. But to be honest no smartphone will get to 15 hours with heavy use. But that's with heavy use. Im a taxi driver so my phone is my best friend hence I'm always using it.

solution is car charger, buy a car USB adaptor off eBay for a couple of pounds and use your existing USB cable and there you have it- unlimited battery:D

My update

I posted here before as I went for an Iphone 5 instead. Here is my update.

I returned the iphone back to the Apple store (14 day) and managed to pre-order the Xperia Z on the last day of the promotion! Here is why (off course all my opinion):

-The Iphone was a pleasure to use. Everything worked flawlessly. Battery could have been better but never the less, a reliable and easy to use smartphone. However, even with the recent modifications, it is still rather locked down and despite the browser performing excellently, the screen size is just too small for power users.

-I was going to leave my smartphone purchase till late spring or even summer; but I saw the Sony promotions team in Carphone Warehouse and they demonstrated the phone and I got another chance (35 minutes!) to play with it again. It was a different experience! The speaker worked well (where as before I stated it was sub-par/ adequate) and the calls were not muffled this time. When they did it dunk it in water and took it out, the speaker sounded worse (obviously), but was ok again (after 10 minutes or so). Could that be the reason the phone in I tried in the Sony store sounded terrible? They too were dunking it in water and perhaps it was too soon? Also there was no lag at all and the chrome browser was excellent. The camera performed much better too. It is so strange as the one I tried in Sony was only a few days ago!

-Anyhow I was assured enough to decide to go for it again and pre-ordered with the Sony retail store for the same promotion as the online one! Just in time too as they were about to close. I also paid an extra £99 to get the MDR headphones with NFC.

-The store staff in the Sony store (as friendly as they are) did'n't seem to trained well in the XZ. Their strengths were the laptops, camera's etc.. This is what Apple get exactly right and it explains their phenomenal success and customer loyalty. The stores and staff know their stuff. Most of my knowledge comes from the members on these forums and a couple of reviews here and there. I should be able to go to a Sony store, experience a reliable product sample and have my questions answered by the staff. I was not aware that the Sony stores (in the UK) are franchise stores. They are completely separate to the web store (who they compete with and price match). They also said the phone has 1 year warranty with them (although 24 month in paperwork?) so not sure how that works. If I could, i would have just gone for the web promotion in time as they even offer full returns. Sony retail offer only exchange or credit note if you want to return.

-Final few words: Sony mobile can afford to market the product extremely well and send dozens of reps into stores (Carphone, O2 etc..). Even though the Sony stores are franchises, they carry the Sony name and should be promoting and representing the products in a better way then they currently are. If Carphone offered the same promotion, I would have purchased from them.
