just got the same tweet from Cyanogen a little bit ago too. OMG!! OMG!! OMG!!!Looks like a rooted rom is already available: http://android.modaco.com/content/g...0/nexus-one-htc-passion-images-in-signed-zip/
Also, cyanogen (rom builder for dream/MT3G) tweeted that the N1 is in fact rooted....
Lol, i'll change the titleLol this topic title is a little misleading.
You can run "Homebrew" without root. You just need to make sure that the "Install from unknown sources" option is ticked.
If I can enable Tethering on day 1 (either it's built into the OS or through ROOT like on our G1's) I own this phone I'll be in all my gloryso glad to see this rooted before its even released. good news for us![]()

What drivers will my XP PC need? assuming it works the same as other android phone, fastest wasy to get tether is using PDAnet by June Fabrics. its on the market and also available to download via their website http://www.junefabrics.com/android/index.phpI also must be able to tether on day one! its free trial and when the trial ends, you cannot use it to connect to https sites. http works fine. drivers you need are just the std adb drivers, should be installed the first time you connect the phone to your pc.
adb is your friendCool thanks. Also, can I download it directly to the N1? and does Android have a default File Manager? Just trying to get ready for the move from WM to this bad boy!
I made the move from WinMo, which I used since the Cassiopeia days, to Android and have never looked back. Don't even think twice. Android has everything plus a whole lot more. You want file managers? There are so many different 5-star file managers that I have a hard time choosing between them.Cool thanks.
