Infos

Dear Anbech,

I want to follow your tutorial available here but I'm not sure if this will work.
I've just flashed my Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) with the custom rom Android Revolution HD, so now my android version is 4.3

I think that I should go and flash your files CWM_CustomBootanimation_43_Enable.zip & CWM_CustomBootanimation_43_Disable.zip in recovery mode but the problem is that my recovery is not CWM but TWRP 2.6.3.0.
Will it work anyway ?

Another thing, I'm pretty sure the .zip mode for the bootanimation isn't enabled on my phone but I've tried to follow the tutorial anyway.
In step 2 you write :
Download this bootanimation.zip, I’ve made only for testing, and place it in /data/local or /system/media folder. Or flash this with CWM: CWM_CustomBootanimation_Test.zip
I didn't try to flash it because, as I said I'm with TWRP and I'm afraid to break anything.
But I've tried to place the bootanimation.zip in /system/media.
I can't see this folder when I connect the phone to the computer, but I can see it using the ES explorer, and when I try to copy/paste the bootanimation.zip I get this error :
/system/media/bootanimation.zip: open failed: EROFS (Read-Only file system)

Thanks in advance for any help !

because system is in read only mode
just press mount r/w on top screen or look for it in any root file manager
instead use root explorer.(as u will find it easy)
and simply paste the zip in data/local it will work!

Thanks ROckStar. :good:

Indeed, I had to play more with the options of ES Explorer to finally find the right buttons and to enable it.
I've copied the file and in the end it worked as I supposed, nothing changed during the boot... waiting for the rest of my interrogations :)

Hi folks,

I need help in regards to a custom boot animation someone made for me.

Basically, it runs through the animation once (without any edit) and then goes to a black screen until I hear the AT&T boot sound and then the UI shows up (Still have root and all).

I tried editing the desc.txt file for it to repeat on and on, but all I get in return is a black screen. Can anyone help?
I am running the US version the S3 with 4.3, rooted. TouchWiz (I know...) ROM with custom launcher.

Here is the code:
600 600 25
p 0 0 part0
Thank you!

Thank you!
Go to /system/media and copy "bootsamsung.qmg" then paste in same folder. Take the duplicate you just made and rename "bootsamsungloop.qmg" replacing the existing bootsamsungloop.qmg

I think that should work. Hit Thanks if it does?

Just making sure I got this right!

I already placed my bootanimation.zip into /system/media

So copy bootsamsung.qmg into the same folder, and replace the bootsamsungloop.qmg with the replacement?

EDIT: That didn't work, unfortunately!

I think so. I forgot I'm on s4 though, so I'm not sure it's the same. I manually installed my boot anims this way when I discovered the qmg format in my phone. It's been a while though. Put a .Bak at the end of your existing bootsamsungloop.qmg first so you can fix it easy if it doesn't work.

I actually got it! I replaced the bootsamsungloop.qmg with my own (via .qmg editor) and it worked! Now I have to get rid of the fugly AT&T loading screen...

Could I get help ?

I've tried to download your custom animations and flashed them succesfully on my omega rom for my Note 3.
But when I boot I get again the Omega ROM coin animation :(
How can I enable this newly flashed animation ?
