OK, now it's working. Thanks. Now, where can I find no loop bootanimations? Where do I put the zip to install it? In the same /data/local? If I have a loop bootanimation, how do I make it no loop?

Thanks!
read post #5 mate ;)
and yeah, use data/local folder..

Let me see if I have understand it: the first digit should be anything execpt 0, and the other settings doesn't matter, is that correct?

Thanks a lot!

EDIT:

Also, can I change the screen that goes before the animation, the one with the brand and the model of my phone?

exactly. the first digit is how many times you want it to loop.

i dont know how to change that boot screen, unfortunately. but its not rom based, so guess its a bit vulnerable to touch it.

So you're saying, that screen is tricky because it is not rom-based, right?

And about the loop thing, I do not quite understand the ICS bug. So, can the animation be repeated/looped like 1, 2 or 57 times without problem? The problem only came when it's set to 0 and only to 0? Is that it?

Sorry for my insistence hehe.

yea, the splash screen with model and brand, is placed somewhere else in the rom..

exactly.. ICS doesnt support looped animations, but JB does..
you can easily set it to loop 57 times, but thats a long time to wait for it to disappear after ui has startet.. :p hehe.. but yea, its possible..
if its set to 0 it will loop infinite/forever..

thats okay mate, you just want to be sure before doing anything, right? :)

Right, because I don't wanna end with an endless booting screen hehe I was confused because I read that ICS doesn't support loop animations but then I think, if I set the digit to 2, that's a loop, so wtf? hehe

But I think I get it, it will work for me if I put it to repeat once or twice. As long as I don't set it to do it forever...

I will try some animations. Thanks for all :)

hi mate,
what rom are you using? and what have you tried exactly? need some information, before im able to help you.. :)

hi there,
are you using a ICS rom? sounds a bit like it.. have you tried using my test bootanimation? : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31833122&postcount=4

I am using Criskelos ISC V6 with Phenominal kernel. With Criskelos JB v16 ROM it worked fine. But not on his ICS. I have tried to flash the animation, copy it to data/local and system/media, with no luck. I did flash the enable/disable bootanimation file. When I enabled it, the animation would run, but the phone would not boot past the animation. Actually it would...the phone seemed to have booted to the ROM, but the animation was stuck on the screen....wouldnt go past that.

Thanks for the help.

Well, I had problems with some apps that didnt work with JB, and ICS is a little quicker. Anyway, JB doesnt really offer me anything new that I need.

that sounds a bit weird, as JB runs way smoother for me, than ICS did...
the apps could be because if they wasnt updated to use on JB at the time youve flashed it, perhaps..

did you manage to get custom bootanimation working?

No I havent. As I mentioned before, it worked fine with JB, but not with ICS. Weird, because on my Note with ICS it works fine.

And how change down animation? Is there a patch too?
im not quite sure what you are asking about?

hmm.. ive made it while i was at ICS myself, so it should work for you as well mate..
did you try this:
disable-flash-zip, copy my test bootanimation from post#4 to /data/local/ folder, and flash enable-flash-zip...?

EDIT:
do you have busybox installed?

I do have busybox. And, your test animation works. When I replace it with mine, my animation doesnt show on the screen.....just a black screen before it boots to ROM.

Attached is the one that I am trying to use. It worked on my S2, and my S3 running JB. See what you think.

Strange....when I use this one, it will boot with the animation but it wont boot past the animation, it is just continuous!
im starting to think that you havent read the first five posts in this thread....?
read post #5, and come back if that isnt answering your questions.. :)

i can give you a little hint, what to look for in the post: ;)
The first digit - is how many times that part should be played (0 means infinite/forever)
The last digit - is the delay before the animation begins to play, in milliseconds
PartX - is the folder with the animation(Part0, Part1, Part2... PartX)

Well, I did read that post. And then I changed the txt file to what I thought was correct, and it played (with the first file I attached), but it hung and wouldnt go past the animation on boot. The first one I uploaded didnt have the change I made to the txt file. I think I deleted that one/

You have probably looked, and know what I need to change. You have already given me a hint, and I thought that I changed the txt file properly before, with no luck. Presently, the txt reads:

800 1280 20

p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1

I have used this on several phones and they have worked. So, can you please help this idiot and tell me what I need to change? :)

yea i know where the error is :)
800 1280 20
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
should be this instead:
720 1280 20
p 1 0 part0
p 1 0 part1
as you can see, your frames are too wide, and the second part (part1), is running infinite/forever..

havent worked with that actually, so cant help you.. i dont have a shutdown animation, because i dont want it.. so cant help you with that one..

Well, when I changed the txt file to the above, it booted fine without the animation. But I then changed the txt file to 720 1280 and it worked. But, it seems the "first" animation in the part0 file plays fine and then the second animation in part1 doesnt. There is a few second delay after the first part plays and the screen is black. But, the phone does boot to the ROM. Thanks, at least the animation kinda works!
