I need to root this to fix malware in the system services
I can not get the MTK ADB Drivers for Windows to work

How long have you been working for homtom? Or do you copy paste things regularly?

I can't even make Windows 10 discover it as a device(tried all usb 2/3 ports, front panel/back/pci card). Does your OS find the device, when it's connected to your PC(no preloader VCom, no MTP, no nothing. The option for PC connection in Android is grayed out btw)?

P.S. You can put it in fastboot mode by removing battery, connecting usb cable to pc, keeping volume down pressed and then reconnecting the battery(ofc I still can't make Win10/ discover the device this way).

my windows 10 x64 detects it without any changes to settings!

In windows 10 x64 the phone is detected but the driver is not loaded.
Look in "Device Manager" under USB
Since it has a Mediatek processor and an updated quad core A7, the drivers should be readily available but maybe I need to try it on an Windows XP PC first.

I have been sent by Homtom HT7 a new ROM to flash
But I still can not find the drivers for my Windows 10 x64 PC and I am unfamiliar with the Flashtool for MTK phones

I flashed the new ROM (M20_HT7_V1.1.2_user_20151231-17_20_02), but it still contains two malwares (one in callerid, another in uni launcher).
I tried to root without success. Anyone to modify these ROMs to be rooted?

I took the suggestion to use Non-Root Firewall and it seems to work; still have cooee.H on kpsh.Platform.jar but I am able to block communication with outside servers by these untrustworthy apps

I installed DriverAutoInstaller from spflashtool.com. I tried ot use oneclick root, kingoroot, I installed more softwares in the last week, so I'm not sure this installer did the work.
My problem was that when I was trying to flash with flashtools, the PC didn't recognize the phone. I had to tilt the microusb connector to make real connection.

I didn't realise any difference, but I focused on the malwares. Unfortunately it contains them. My new problem about HT7 is that it connets to the GSM network slowly (1-2 minutes), even if I turned airplane mode on then off. Any idea?

Battery is strange a bit, during charging it stops at 89%, but later charging continues reaching 100%.

Anyway, battery life is not the best, but it's enough for me. 1-1.5 days.

Mine also stops on 89% while charging. It does bad job at reading battery state (i've seen values decrease rapidly, and sometimes even go up after a reset, following long usage).
Whats bother me the most is that i cannot root it.
