Honda Connect Android System

First impressions: it works! I've got an interaction with my Honda via USB cable. Still impressed, WOW

The app recognize only device with vendor id google. If you enable usb debug on phone the vendor id should be 18D1 (it means google device because of adb). Have you usb debug enabled? You can find it in device manager on windows (or lsusb in unix)

First look: it works! I've been able to connect my SGS20 to HU and interact with my screen! WOW! Also Google Assistant asks me, what I want to do! MaKi83, great job! Thanks a lot!
Some troubles (first version would not cooperate with AndroidAuto app in my smartphone), but now for some minutes of using I'm just happy!
One remarks: to start app working, it is (in my case) necessary to run the car (engine on). In other conditions, the app will not start to connect with the smartphone.

As I wrote, to run in proper way, it should be the first to start app (with engine on), then connect smartphone.
I suppose, it is not clear, but ticking all checkbox as "marked" could kill the proper way of working this app.
It was necessary to uninstall app, check the rest with CClean and install once more.
After that, sometimes it is normal, that app hang on and nothing you can do with your smartphone.
But when it starts, it going!
As I was awaiting, when the ignition is off, also AA is off. As now, I can say, it could not start again (start button is inactive).
But of course, Google Maps works perfect.
It was curiously, that saying "OK Google", system (I think) was ready to react, but today it was not to much time to check all these functions.
Of course, I'm very sorry for my "spam" in this thread

Glad to know it's working.
I know there are many things that should be fixed, first of all the management of usb device. But the android version we have really sucks.
To be honest I've never tested the app with engine off, so I have nothing to say. But have you checked if, with engine off, the phone is in charge? (just to know if the usb port is working).
The headunit, at least in my HRV, doesn't have microphone so the assistant cannot work. If you say "OK google" and it reacted I think was the smartphone.

You got microphone in your headunit because of the bluetooth answering system in Honda Connect
Of course, when the key is in first position in your ignition switch, smartphone is in charge and usb port is also working.
Now, I wonder, how to play youtube from Android Auto?
I could not to find how to prepare shortcut on my HU?
And in smartphone also can not find this one.

Honda connect use the phone's microphone to answer call via hfp protocol, the app don't use it so it cannot access smartphone microphone.
Youtube on androidauto is not permitted by google (youtube doesn't have an androidauto interface), only youtube music. There are other apps to see youtube videos on androidauto like CarTube

MaKi83, I'm so very, very, very thankful, that you do it!
The most important thing, which I just confirmed, is SMS text on the screen!
With all infos from smartphone, including photo of contact, stored in smartphone.

Of course, there is malfunction, in my opinion, because when someone is calling, the app is under phone app (visible on the top bar on the HC screen), but I could not to restore it to normal functionality. Is this possible? Or maybe I cannot to find, how to?

Yes I know, I don't figured it out yet why the app closes on call because when switch to/from rear camera it restores correctly.

My last discovery: when you attempt to connect phone to Honda Connect via cable and the start button (in enabled MaKi83's Android Auto app) is not active (light blue colour), try to tap the USB icon on the left side of the screen. Even if there is only USB icon (not the name of the connected smartphone), it could help to gain access to the Android Auto features.
In my case it helps.

A thing hat made makis app work a bit faster was to use 30 fps instead of 60 fps.

In makis android auto app. If you go to setting you will se it is set to 60 fps. It's unnecessary, try the 30 fps and I noticed it worked a bit faster with Spotify and in the menu in the android auto app.

Agreed, this makes the app so much more useable!

I have rigged an old Android and tethered my iPhone to work and the operation works so well. As we know calls come through the original HU but reconnects (at least for me) straight away! @MaKi83 you've done a brilliant job, you really have!

Also side note, the app icon is great too!

Can you give me the permissions you use? Because mine doesn't reconnect after a phone call. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

No. This is not your wrong behaviour.
As far as I can well remember, MaKi93 wrote some days ago, that it is one of the unsolved problem yet.

Honda Connect Android System

Hope someone can help. This year, Honda released the Honda Connect system in their cars, the system runs on the Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 platform (yeah old I know) although it appears to be completely locked down, no Play store available! You...

Do pay attention... I did have some issues with other apps and it tuned out that I had not put the same package and process name... i had a typing error on one of them... and bim that screws up your configuration.
