Hi, sorry for this post because for sure is written somewhere but I could not find the answer anywhere.

I am planning to downgrade my Honda Connect From RC8 to RC6 but I am a bit stupid with the files I guess and I have few doubts.

FIRTS, I can not find any file for the RC6 only files for RC8, anyone know where to find it?

SECOND How many files do I have to download for downgrade or update? Because in list say for sh (usb1) one file, Tegra EC/NC (usb2) another file and for Tegra (usb3) another different file:

-----That means I have to download the three of them and put each of them in a different usb? If this is the case, there is a specific order or I should connect all of of them at the same time or something like that?

-----Or means I have to download the three of them and put it in only one usb?

-----Or is only one of the files and I am reading bad the list?

THIRD, why there are two type of lists for the downgrade and only one for the update back to RC8, RHD and LHD? If my car is in the RHD how I update it if there is no list of these models?

FOUR, for the upgrade back to CR8, I have the same doubts as before but I guess the process is the same but avoiding reseting to factory settings, I am right?

I hope you can help me with this because I don't want to try just in case I break the unit...

Thank you!!!

Plik USB1 dla SH, Plik USB2 dla Tegra EC/NC, USB3 dla Tegra musi być kompatybilny z RC6 Update Matrix. Każdy plik na osobnym pendrive. Musisz sprawdzić jaki masz firmware na stacji i dopasować do niego pliki zgodnie z RC6 Update Matrix. Każdy plik przesyłasz osobno.

Hello
I was wondering if anyone can help
I recently bought a Honda enp1 full electric car (Chinese )
Equipped with Honda connect 3.0 sensing
The screen is 15.1 inch no physical buttons
It runs android but I’m not sure what version it is . The screen is split into 3 parts
1 lower ac and heating options
2nd middle is car settings and music
3rd upper Honda connect
Which needs 4g connection to be activated
Is there a way to tether the connection (cellular )through a phone using usbc
*since the car is made for China it doesn’t connect to any cellular network outside China

I finnaly find the way to sizable VSP error, but it is reset as soon a restart the headunit. Any solution to disable permanently VSP error?
Hi bro!

You need to set the permission settings right. In mikespermissions app. The VSP error configuration isn't the way to go. It resets as you say. If you do set the permissions you will see that your app keeps running while driving.

Set the permissions as a Navigation app settings as described on cm droid.

I downgraded my head unit on my CRV from rc8 to rc6. Then upgraded to rc8 again using the information that clarifies which update file I needed for my specific head unit (there is a code visible on the front of the head unit).

Make sure you have a working usb FAT32 if I remember it right. Then also don't put the reverse gear while updating the head unit, mine got stuck on reverse camera, gave me a scare. Make sure you don't interrupt the headunit while updating. It could brick your unit. And also, after updating to rc8, don't factory reset your headunit.

And lastly, you need to search this forum for the update files. Someone shared all the update files for honda connect headunit with all models update files and information for the specific headunit (the code in the front).

@Norton3 shared the information sheets that you need to identify the update files for your headunit Id. Check the id code.

Hope anyone who has done an update to a honda connect here can answer and help me lol. Just picked up a 2017 Civic (but it's before mid 2017 refresh model) with a 6VC1 head unit. Software version

20230514_211327.jpg

20230514_211608.jpg

I've spent the last 1~2 hours trying to confirm to the point of confidence what RC version this is and if I'm below RC8 how to update to it.

The matrix PDF seems to suggest I need

AUD31CF.bin
ADA_usbdl_VL0.FFF.04_EXT_HFT_param02
ADA_usbdl_V10096001123_sec_14ada

And then use 3 separate USB sticks, one for each file? I've seen a few people ask this question but struggled to see anyone definitively answer them if that is the case or all 3 on one USB stick will be OK.

Then my second bit of confusion is around depending on what RC version I have, do I need to say update to 6 first and then 8 if I'm below 6? Or can any version below 8 upgrade straight to 8?

Just don't want to brick my unit so any advice would be helpful.

Thank you

edit - After a cuppa and chilling out I've gathered the jump from step 9 to 22 is because I don't need AUD31CF.bin because I am already on 31.00.cf. I also noticed in the pictures included in the RC8.pdf file they are upgrading from 0C.091.01.1123. So my guess is I'm on RC6. Will just try popping the USB stick in tomorrow with the ADA files I listed above and see what pops up.

If you're on rc6 you should be able to install apps by naming them HondaAppCenter_A1.apk.

Theres more info on cmdroid.com.

You do not need 3 separate USB sticks... Just 1 will do.
But you do need to install one at the time, you should not put all the files at the same time in the USB stick. So step by step.

You always want to go to RC6 in order to install other apps, and once you set up everything in RC6 you can upgrade to RC8 to have the improvements on bluetooth etc (just make sure to not reset your system, else you loose the changes you did with RC6)

Thank you, that's the clearest answer I've found that gives me confidence. As per the guide pdf it's two files I need to use, so I'll update one at a time with each being on the stick one at a time.

I believe I'm on RC6, as per advice above I will now try and test that by installing a custom app. Unless anyone knows from my version info above if it's RC6.

Not sure you are in RC6... As per the images shared above by Norton3, I can find the Tegra build numbers you shared... so that would mean (if the images are correct) that youa re in RC5. Which would also mean (i believe) that the cmdroid instructions would work. Else you can always just go and install the RC6.

Yeah I think I was on whatever was 1 below RC6. I updated to RC6, then 6.1 and then 8.0. But then I went and downgraded back down to 6.1 with the TEGRA file only. This allowed app installations.

Am I correct to assume if I install Mike's permissions app and then go back up to 8.0 (without a factory reset) this will continue to allow app installations from the Honda App Center rename trick on 8.0?

I got Spotify working quite quickly by setting some permissions, shame I don't think there seems to be a way to use the steering wheel skip track functionality. It obviously works over bluetooth if I beam Spotify from my phone.

Yes install Mike's permissions app in RC6, and make sure that you put the correct settings on it.
Then update to RC8
Then you may need to reset the settings on Mike permissions or make sure that they are well configured.
But yeah it works that is how I have my system.

ANd noup, havent figured out to make the steering wheel skip track do something else... (I would love a Play/Pause option... for the moment can only do ON/off the system to pause bluetooth...)

Thanks, I'll make sure Mike's app is setup as others recommend and then go back to RC8.

I found with Spotify I had to use enable audio output, last mode but have auth type to "HONDA_ORIG" and the other setting on "Other". For whatever reason the most commonly used Spotify permissions that seem to use third party had the Spotify music stop playing when I went into another app, like Waze.

Speaking of Waze I seem to have it working fine with the commonly found NAVI settings. Not sure if I'll use it more than the built in Garmin but it's nice to have the option.

Ultimately, nice functionality to have but it seems ymmv on how compatible apps are and what you might lose (like spotify skip track versus just bluetoothing spotify audio from your phone). If you're travelling with someone though Spotify on the screen is nice versus a phone (unless they want to use their own phone).

I upgraded. No problems installing apps. Some people had problems and had to rename a file.

Just don't factory reset your system.

Hello Vespisti!
Are you sure this wiring diagram is expressly only for the Jazz GK3? I'd would like install a reverse camera too and I'm not sure if the camera adpt (+ 12Vcc) pin is 17 or 19 ??
Thanks a lot.
Yesterday in the night, i have read and looked again, to the pictures und the wiring diagram.
And find out, where i must pin the CANBUS (hope that is the right canbus-signal) und also the Video Signal + Power.

Hi,

the wiring diagram is for the FK2(R). Whether this is identical with the JAZZ I can not say.

But I have my Aftermark radio the rear camera also not yet get to run. For the power I have the camera pinned to J4 and J16, but I see no picture. For the video signal I have chinch from the radio pinned to J3 and J15.

I'm not sure myself and have to do it again. But if you have a solution in the meantime, I would be very grateful if you get in touch.

Greetings

    Here we go!

This document contains all information needed to get android auto running on the Honda Connect Android 4.0.4 and should leave no need to ask questions :)

Maybe you can throw your eyes over it before I go and share it with the CRV groups I am in.

Please excuse my spelling and grammar lol
Just to simplify life for those who only need a working Android Auto on 4.0.4 (post #3417 by MaKi83 [https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/honda-connect-android-system.3179549/post-86741609], link [https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachments/hondaappcenter_a1-apk.5587733/]) before RC6 (I have 6VC2, OC.091.01.1123). It is possible to install Honda Permissions app [https://cmdroid.com/essenciais/HR-V PERMISSIONS 1.1 S_Mike/HondaAppCenter_A1.apk] (or from post #856: [https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachments/hondapermissions_v1-1-apk.3804426/]) on such an RC (4 or 5, not sure), as is implicit in post #3085 by jkswe. I also had to install Spotify [https://cmdroid.com/apps/Spotify 8.4.57.803/HondaAppCenter_A1.apk] so that Android Auto is complete (for my config, I suppose; it's heavy so I will try Spotify Lite [https://spotify-lite.fr.uptodown.com/android/telecharger]). The permissions for the apps:
    - Android Auto: Process Name: it.smg.hu Package Name: it.smg.hu Auth Type: THIRD PARTY App Type: OTHER Sound Out: ON Last Mode: ON
    - Spotify: Process name: com.spotify.music Package name: com.spotify.music Auth Type = THIRD_PARTY App Type = MULTIMEDIA SoundOut = ON LastMode = ON

    Hello Guys,

Last time I showed you how to install custom application. Now it's time to move on.
I present you complete solution. Not hardware, but software :)
I created application which allow you to change process_controls.list and allowed_installations.list direct in your Honda head unit !!
I note that it works and it has been tested a little in my Honda with android 4.0.4.

I spent some time working on it, so give me some thanks if you use it.
I don't expect any payments, but if you would like to send me some beers. I will sent you my paypal address by PM.

I tested the application only a little. So it could have some bugs. Use it for your own risk.
Do full backup (in two formats) before you start changing something, there is option for this. I haven't tested restore option yet. It should work, but I'm not guarantee this.
I don't know what each flags and options in process control mean. I haven't tested this yet. Maybe someone would like to do some manual?

    Warnings:
    1. I'm not responsible for any damage of your head unit. Use it for your own risk.
    2. Don't remove HondaAppCenter_A1.apk from allowed installations, because if something goes wrong you won't be able to install any new applications or new versions.
    3. Be careful with changing version number. If you increase it then updating Honda oryginal applications won't overwrite your changes in process controls.
If you decrease it then reboot you head unit will overwrite your changes.
    4. Be careful with changing permissions flags in existing packages and applications.
    5. And last be careful when you driving.

    Enjoy!!!

    Hello guys,

Firstly I would like to thanks all of you who support me by donations and sending beers ;) Special thanks to CMhonda group for their donation.

Some of you asked me to implement new features to Honda Permissions app. It took me awhile but here it is. New version of Honda Permissions - v 1.1.0

    What's new:
    - Added search functionality in Allowed installations and Process Controls list
    - Added copy action in Process Controls list (now you can create new permission by copy settings from another)
    - Now you can save/restore backup files direct to/from usb device (you can choose any path you want)

As always: I'm not responsible for any damage of your head unit. Use it for your own risk.

    Enjoy

    Step By Step Tutorial

Ok Here is a Step by Step Tutorial on how I have been able to install any application on my Honda Connect RC7 .

Disclaimer: I am not responsible of any damage this could make to your device. Do it at your own risk. The only thing I know is that it worked fine on my RC7 unit… I hope this could help you to install application on your head unit.

How to check your version :
Go to the android parameter and click on About this device . You should find Build Number : 0F.095.01.1123. Ok You have the RC7

    RfWGzkE.jpg

    What you need:
    A – Hardware:
    1/ USB OTG Cable - Female A to Micro A ( https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11604 )
    2/ USB A Male To A Male Cable ( https://www.amazon.com/DTOL-Feet-USB-Male-Cable/dp/B000BSJFFC )
    3/ Screwdriver philips ph00

    B – Software:
    1/ iRoot
    2/ Honda Permission from S_Mike

Here is the files I used: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hl4egyh1x49y14r/AABd2cZYYzmh6Mt0MPQcE9Mea?dl=0

Step One: Preparing your computer and the iRoot software.
Before everything, I have installed the Intel Android Drivers (not sure it is important but …)

A/install iRoot on your Windows computer
B/Go to the install directory of iRoot ( in my case this is c:\Program File (x86)\iRoot\ )
C/There you should find a directory ( in my case this is \1.8.9.21144) which contain kinguser.zip
D1/ Easy Way : Replace it with the one I have included in my dropbox link.
D2/ Hard Way : edit the kinguser.zip file and replace the kinguser.apk with the application that you want to inject. In this case we want to inject the Honda Permissions application from S_Mike. I have downloaded the one from cmdroid.com that’s why it is HondaAppCenter_A1.apk. Just rename it as kinguser.apk and replace it in the kinguser.zip

Step Two: Connecting the device to your computer

1 – Enable the Developer Option

    A/start the device
B/Press and hold "MENU"+"Day/Night"(Brightness)+"POWER" button (in this order) for about five seconds until the display changes
    C/Select "Detail Information & Setting"

    j0lGb87.jpg

    D/Select “Functional Setup”

    mvlUGT0.jpg

    E/Select “Developer Option Enable”

    Dn2lrak.jpg

F/Select “On” to enable the developer option menu.

    sgQ0fiH.jpg

G/Push Return to come back to the Welcome screen

2 – Enable the USB Debug mode in the developer option Menu

    A/Go to the Android settings.
    B/Select Developer Options

    6Kep1UA.jpg

C/Tick USB Debugging. ( I have also tick the Stay awake but I don’t think it would change anything…)

    tofmTuZ.jpg

3 – Connecting the device to the computer

A/Flip the screen (push the eject button)
B/Unscrew the 4 screws which hold the screen

    KY0FR6B.jpg

C/Get the screen slowly out (it could be tighten but mind the ribbon cable of the screen !)
D/Hold the screen with one hand and use the other hand get the plastic cache ( just above the ribbon cable) out.

    DgCDlEB.jpg

    PcUoyc7.jpg

    tGojL7j.jpg

E/Use something to support the screen.
F/ Now that the screen is raised, you can access to the micro USB Type A port.

    ZVBLPyh.jpg

G/Plug your cable in that port

    1ZI7kxR.jpg

Step Three : Inject the Honda Permission application

    A/Start iRoot

    WfT1iPI.jpg

B/Plug the cable to your computer and you should see

    i32IiNz.jpg

    C/Wait until this

    uAlML5U.jpg

    D/Click on Root

E/Wait ( The sound of your head unit might stop sometimes)

    vYRg4f2.jpg

F/Now you should have that screen and your unit should restart.

    PVI2C2F.jpg

G/After restart you should find the Honda Permission installed.

Step Four : Installing any application

    A/Start Honda Permission
B/You can Edit the HondaAppcenter_A1.apk (leave your finger on it until the pencil arrives on the top right side of the screen)
C/replace the “Sig digest sha256” with PREINSTALL value
This should activate the “HondaAppCenter_A1.apk” BackDoor.

BUT in my case The Install button was still greyed out…

    Here is my solution:

    A/ Start Honda Permission
B/Click on the + button in the Allowed Installations menu

    C/Create a new rule with :
    • APK Name : application.apk
    • Package name:
    • Sig digest sha256 : PREINSTALL

D/Now you can install any application that you have renamed application.apk.

    Installing app on RC7

    Hi everyone,

I have a European Honda Civic Tourer Executive (who cares ?) latest model with a Honda Connect RC7 (0F.095.01.1123).

However (thanks to @sobvan) I have ordered a micro-USB-type-A cable and used a USB Male A to Male A cable to connect it to my computer.

Like sobvan I was able to locate the "allowed_installations.list" file but I wasn’t able to get the root access to modify it.

So I have tried some application to root it ( Kingoroot, SRSroot,…) without any luck…

BUT the latest version of iRoot (iRoot_171024.zip) has been able to inject the Kinguser.apk. The app is working fine but isn’t able to root the unit (Anyway I’m not sure that I was looking for a rooted device).

So I tried to modify iRoot software to inject HondaPermission.apk and it did the trick !

Simply go to your “\Program File (x86)\iRoot\1.8.9.21144” directory.
You should find a kinguser.zip file.
Edit this file with winzip or winrar or whatever.
    Remove the kinguser.apk file.
Rename your HondaPermission.apk to kinguser.apk and copy it in the kinguser.zip of the iRoot directory.
Now launch iRoot with your device connected (in debug USB mode !).
Your unit should reboot and then you should find the Honda Permission installed !

Now launch Honda Permission and in “Allowed installation” modify the HondaAppcenter_A1.APK rule (leave your finger on it until the pencil arrives on the top right side of the screen) and replace the “Sig digest sha256” with PREINSTALL value.

And that’s it now you can install applications on the F****ing RC7 version. (I have not tested on the RC8, but it should work)

Big thanks to sobvan who found the port and the iRoot team for their great software.

Some of you have posted in the past about wanting to mirror their phone to the HU.
Up to now, no one seems to have achieved it very successfully, if at all.

However, now there's a way. Using TeamViewer.

Install THIS app on the phone (TeamViewer Host for Android)
If you have a Samsung phone, there's a TeamViewer Host for Samsung HERE

Then install THIS on the Honda HU, renaming the file, obviously, to HondaAppCenter_A1.apk to be able to install it.

Run the Host on the phone and the Remote Control on the HU to connect to the phone. You need to be connected via WiFi Hotspot of course.
Tilt phone Landscape. You can now see and control phone from HU screen, including running any apps on phone on the HU, even Google Maps.

Working for me so far. Hope this helps anyone interested.
