Honestly, Pixel 2 XL screen is better than Galaxy S8+

I know, I know. I'm going going against what everyone else says, but I'm not trolling... I actually prefer this screen. Is it perfect? No. But my wife has the Galaxy S8 and I really do prefer the Pixel 2 XL screen over the Sammy's.

It actually has a more even color compared to the Samsung's. The S8 has a reddish tint when looking straight on that is uneven. Some areas are more red than others. Tilting the phone makes it worse. The Pixel's screen is nearly perfect looking straight on. I like the more natural colors too. And I find the Pixel 2 XL screen to be more visible in certain outdoor lighting. I think the 2 XL screen is slightly sharper looking too. Again, it's not without it's flaws, but all and all, I think I like this screen better than the competition.

This is utter nonsense, Samsung display is significantly brighter. That is not even subjective but a fact (565 nits vs 460 nits).

Unless your girlfriend has a defective device everything you said is wrong.

I dig my pixel 2 xl and would never trade it for Samsung but this kind of Google *********** annoys me.

Edit: fixed nits

*MOD EDIT*
Let's watch the cursing. Thanks.

If you actually read my post, you would have noticed I said it's brighter in certain outdoor conditions. Content seems more visible during overcast conditions on the Pixel 2 XL. I'm not talking about nits. There's more to visibility than nits. Screen reflectivity and other factors are important too.

It's more visible outside? I don't get how that's possible since the Samsung display is brighter. Are you talking about with sunglasses on?

I'm EXTREMELY excited to see how this polarized screen works (I have HUGE pupils and I live in Vegas so I pretty much live with my sunglasses 24/7)

Just is. Maybe it's the polarization but it is brightness be damned

I kind of agree. I use Automate and have a profile that automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen based on the lux value. I had to lower the multiplier because it was much brighter in different lighting conditions. I am also coming from an S8+. I really don't know why everyone is complaining about the screen. It's not that bad at all.

I don't have any complaints about blue tint, grain, black crush, burn-in, muted colors or anything like that. But what I really dislike is that there's an orange/brown tint to everything that at times makes stuff look vintage 70s. I'm going to see if the saturated mode in the new update will fix it, otherwise I'm going to have to install a custom kernel with color controls to try to get the colors right. The colors on this thing is definitely not properly calibrated.

The screen looks fine but it is, by no stretch of the imagination, better than the screen on the S8, S8+ or Note 8. Don't get me wrong, after having my 4 month stint with the S8 (which was great), I'm absolutely loving my LG G30 and would still take it over the S8, despite the screen. The screen on the V30 is nowhere near as crisp and clear as the screen on my S8 was. And to say it gets brighter than the S8 screen would just be a flat out lie.

I even took time to compare my V30 side by side with a 2 XL and another S8 in the Verizon store and the S8 screen puts both to shame in every regard. Side by side the V30 and 2 XL screens look identical, but that's to be expected considering LG made them both, seemingly around the same time.

Personally, I'm willing to give that screen up to get rid of Touchwiz and gain those beautiful sounding front facing speakers on the 2 XL (mine arrives Monday). But I cannot pretend that I'm getting a superior screen with either my V30 or 2 XL, because that simply is not true.
