The quick controls are two "rows" thick now instead of 1 and there are a few more controls. It is more definitely different from before as I used the quick controls heavily and noticed the change instantly. Overall a much nicer experience.
Exactly. I find they work better too. Plus the ability to now open and close tabs and view all tabs open from within the quick controls is a nice touch.

Overall I have found the device more responsive. Where as before I had to overclock to get smooth screen transitions, now I do not (and can't yet).

I am using a wired keyboard with trackpad and I do not see any lag with the cursor. Using the information on this site I made my own OTG cable and it works great.

If you are curious, here is the keyboard/trackpad I am using.

I have a nice leather folio that the Xoom fits inside an inner pocket. This small keyboard can also fit inside the folio along with the Xoom. I know BT is cooler, but this is simple and will never run out of battery.

Not going to lie, I had hopes... and my hopes were surpassed.

I was running Tiamat and reverted back to out of the box, got the updated 3.1, and uh, wow... Absolutely NOTHING against Tiamat as it is hands-down fantastic work, which I applaud and look forward to the development, but with rebooting and random lag, I had to try stock to see for myself. Obviously this could be user error, but I was running 1:1 with no over-clocking and still would get random reboots. Not often, but often enough I took notice.

3.1 is a beautiful update, much like the major updates to the phones as the OP stated. It's taken my sluggish but awesome stock tablet, and completely ridden itself of the sluggish activity. This is damn near perfect. Obviously not, but damn!

The future is looking brighter than ever... :) And with Tiamat still in development, things can only get better! Hell yes for his update! :D

I haven't noticed any change in performance, but I am very happy with many of the features, resizing gmail widget is wonderful, just wish I could fit three columns of gmail across one screen in horiz.

A small but appreciated thing is the wifi upload download arrows.
