I hope band 12 works on Tmobile $30 prepaid. I'm pretty sure I read a review and the guy said he had been on TMobile LTE with this phone and no issues. Need to try and find that again.
Honor 5X is compatible with the following network standards:

  • FDD-LTE:B2/B4/B5/B12/B17
  • UMTS:B1/B2/B4/B5
  • GSM:850/900 /1800 /1900 MHz

The actual network performance is subject to condition of individual carriers.

4G / LTE bands

I have an Honor 5X with the model number : KIW-L21
I think it may be the European or Middle East version of the Honor 5X.
Does anyone know which 4G / LTE bands this model supports ?
Does it support the LTE band 40 (2300) ?

Thank you

What are the odds that band 12 ultimately gets enabled for T-Mobile?
Do someone confirm Band 12 does not work for Tmobile LTE? Someone recently posted a picture with their custom Kernel running on Honor 5x. In the screenshot he had 4G on Tmobile. Try asking him if he did anything or if the phone connects to 4G LTE automatically.

4G is one thing. Band 4 should work no problem. Band 12, I don't think so yet.

Band 12 is not the primary band

According to Ting (which has GSM services on TMobile), Band 4 is the band that is primarily used. Band 2 is also used as a backup. Band 12 is rarely your primary LTE channel.

So I think that the Band 12 dilemma may not matter too much. I will try to post later if someone does not beat me to it. I will have a sim for the device by the end of the week and can test it.

Hi
I have a doubt regarding the specification of Honor 5x.
In Indian version the processor is octacore with (4 cores at 1.2Ghz + 4 cores at 1.5Ghz)
In US version the processor is octacore with (8 cores at 1.5Ghz)
is it true?
or I am missing something

The US model is the 616 4 cores at 1.2Ghz, 4 cores at 1.5Ghz same as the Indian model.

So I too was curious about the band 12 issue before I bought my Honor 5x and after lots of thought, ended up buying the phone. Im posting this because I have simple mobile unlimited plan and since day 1 with the phone, as you can see in the snapshot, I have both 4G and LTE signal. Not too sure if that applies to everyone else but just a little clarity for those with Simple Mobile considering the phone.

NTFS support

My new device did not recognize my memory card which was formatted to NTFS, I had to reformat it to FAT32. This is usual?

Also, did anyone else do a storage benchmark on this device? The internal storage's write/read speed is pretty good, but I'm a little bit sad because the external sdcard's read/write speed. My external memory card is a Samsung EVO plus 32gb which speed should be around 80/20 mb/s (I can confirm that, because with my Huawei Mediapad M2 I could reproduce these numbers with my other EVO plus 32gb card.), but with this device I've got 32/11 mb/s.
I've used A1 SD Bench app for the benchmarks every time.

Both slots support 2g/3g/4g, but only one can be used on 3g/4g the other will be 2g only. You can see this by switching the 4G/3G slot toggle under Dual Sim management.
Since the hardware of both slots support 2g/3g/4g I wonder if software will ever be able to enable 4g on both at the same time.

So yes, but not at the same time.

Currently have ATT and T-Mobile sims in the phone.

can any one telll me that it support 3g on both sim or not...........

About Band 12. I had an Alcatel Idol 3 working on T-mobile. It had band 12 but never used it, it was always on band 4 and this was in downtown San Francisco (got stolen BTW).
I would like to know how good is call quality and LTE reception on T-Mobile, this is something all reviews never mention despite the fact it is a cellphone. How loud is music and calls? Thanks

AT&T call quality is excellent. The speakers on the phone are average, compair it to a samsung note 1-4 or galaxy S2 - S5

how or where are you finding what band the phone is using / not using ?
