Has anyone had problems associated with rooting. Whenever you make a physical change to the system partition, apps begin to fail and once you reboot, it boot loops. This needs a pure Android rom; EMUI sucks.

I'm getting 8-15 down and like 1-3 up on AT&T 4 LTE and 60+Mbps/15 up on T-Mobile (Band 4) prepaid when I tested last night. AT&T has never been over 20 for me lately. Not like I need that on a phone anyway.

About Band 12. I had an Alcatel Idol 3 working on T-mobile. It had band 12 but never used it, it was always on band 4 and this was in downtown San Francisco (got stolen BTW).
I would like to know how good is call quality and LTE reception on T-Mobile, this is something all reviews never mention despite the fact it is a cellphone. How loud is music and calls? Thanks

David C.
On T-Mobile, and I only have been getting Band 4 in the Philadelphia metro area, the call quality is as outstanding and LTE reception better than my past top of the line HTC phones. It keeps the signal in hilly areas where I used to regularly loose the signal.

The noise cancellation is good, and people say it is as if I was on a land line even though I am in my car or walking about outside.

The speakers, both normal and speaker phone are the weak points. Turning them up only accentuates this. Clipped highs and lacking low down punch. It doesn't bother me much as I either use a good quality bluetooth headset or headphones for most of my calls or music (great stereo separation which you can't get from any phone).

On T-Mobile with LTE 55 down, 26 up; on 3G 30 down, 26 up. LTE Band 4 in Philadelphia metro area. In DC or NYC LTE Band 4 as well is regularly 60+ down. Have not found a T-Mobile cell tower yet that is not LTE Band 4.

Real test is next week when I drive 6 hours through rural PA on the way to West Virginia. In the past I would not have cell signal on several 10 min stretches.

I've had zero problems after root and busybox.I've pretty much deleted apps and modded with impunity today.I was afraid to fool with it too much but when my second 5X arrived from Amazon today I really put this one through the paces.I've successfully deleted system apps and replaced the boot animation.I wouldn't advise messing with it as everyone's device is different but this has been my experience.

Thanks a lot. Your post definitely moved this phone to the top of my list of phones to consider.

Planning to buy new huawei phone with xda friendly... what do you think is better...
P8 lite
GR5/Honor 5x
or P9 lite?
Hard to say which one is better as this all depends of your own use and your budget/your money and as I don't know where you live and if you want support from XDA for root, TWRP, custom ROMs, etc...

- P8 Lite and P9 Lite have dual sim, but you have to choose between the second sim and the micro SD.
- P8 Lite is a bit oldish as it only offers HD display (1280x800) on a 5.0" screen with kinda "slow" processor compared to P9 Lite or Honor...
- Not sure if P8 Lite offers 4G/LTE network though.
- P9 Lite has a Full HD display on a 5.2 " screen.
- You should now know most of The Honor 5x specifications, and I have no idea about Honor GR5 which should be the same as Honor 5x, but don't why Honor created this model.

- If you could afford the price you could also consider Samsung A5 2016 and Samsung A5 Duos 2016 which are much better with a larger community support on XDA : watch out as there are 2015 models and 2016 models which are quite different in specs and prices).

If you need detailed specifications about a device : google "your device specs" and you should find most links to gsmarena or on phonearena...

I have searched the galaxy a5, and found out the A5 has drop test problem. Well, maybe I'll go for the gr5, it looks more secure in dropping and hard. I'm clumsy guy and I like my phone naked without casing. And I'll wait a little more for asus zenphone3 and p9 lite to release here to my country.

By the way, do you know if the gr5/ honor5x can use both sim micro and nano AND the sdcard at the same time?

(this is my primary phone, looking for my secondary phone who is cheap and dual nano/nano nano/micro with annual upgrade to android 7)

Found lumia 650 last time, but with lack of apps like grabtaxi has convince me to jump to android and soon it will be compatible with windows10 too!

Galaxy A5 has always been mentioned and described as BEST smartphone in its category but I have no idea about drop test and I don't care about them as I always buy and use cases no matter the price I paid for the device !

Yes, Honor 5x have both sim micro and nano AND sdcard, and I guess gr5 also, and if Android 6.0x MM is coming there is absolutely no guarantee it will ever get Android 7/Android N, and I don't think it will !!!

Forget about Windows Phone or Windows 10 mobile as this OS is just dying...

Has anyone in USA received the MM 6.0 Emui 4.0 update yet??? I have seen threads for indian variant and others but not US.

I dont really plan to use it but hoped that the sources would be released by Huawei Honor to get needed FP Sensor files for CM13 or other MM Rom around the time they released the update.

I understand I may not see Android N but MM was promised. Last I heard was MM to be rolled out in June . And I would not mind Android N one day

Hey cyrusalmighty,

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is coming soon to the United States.

We haven't decided if we'll bring Android N to the Honor 5X.

We've been advising our customers to follow our Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/usahonor/?ref=settings) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/Honor_USA) for more info on device releases and software updates. (ED)

Does anyone happen to him simply rotates the screen so that the drop-down menu came down, and she 3 key management that rotate up and all the app and letters to be turned upside down?
Today happened to me while I was on FB lite app. I could not somehow turn off the mob and restart and is now ok.
I'm worried that maybe has not already begun to spoil rotation sensor, it can not have 5 days? :(
