Hi,

I guess the best to achieve this is to:

1/ unlock bootloader

2/ adb boot on recovery twrp

3/ flash magisk or SuperSu

4/ reboot

Here a link, may be outdated so use Google with honor 5x xda +
"Unlock bootloader" or " boot in twrp" or " root "
