Updated to EMUI 10, version 10.0.0.175, I can confirm I still have Google apps in the Czech Republic, Honor 8X JSN-L21.

GMS will not be removed from those handset which already have license.
Those who have global version (JSN L 21/ JSN L 22/ JSN L 23/ JSN L42) 8X model will have all google apps.
FYI.
Only Chinese model - JSN-AL00/JSN-TL00 will never have GSM as google is ban in China. The Chinese version never bought GMS from google. They were lauched without GMS.

Note this method will delete everything. Make sure you have backup your pictures and whatapp massage. (I m not responsible if anything goes wrong, but i can help you get out if that problem)
For me The method:
1.Install HiSuite
2.Install Firmware Finder from google play
3.Find the firmware that is compatible with your phone by pressing check availability(BE SURE TO SELECT THE "FULL-OTA-MF" NOT JUST THE "OTA")
4.Go to Hosts and add: "188.225.84.142 query.hicloud.com"
5.Check your phone to be connected to the laptop hotspot and register your firmware
6.Connect the phone to pc and open HiSuite and press update
The connection to the laptop hotspot is recommend to avoid another problems.

any improvement over emui9? any lag? battery drain?
I put it on and no problems for me. I didn't wait (why bother - someone always has an issue with the update somewhere...).
Plus I wanted EMUI 10 for the wear detection feature with Freebuds 3.
Improvements - Dark mode. Icons and layout slightly nicer than 9 and more colourful. Notification pull down bar icons are different but can be annoying with a row of 5 on first pull down without labels. Goes to a row of 4 with labels when expanded, so furthest right icon moves to row below and over. Not sure if that was in 9. Minor though.
New "Gentle Reminders" are good for things that notify but normally throw a popup or display an icon.
Phone lag is same as was before - keyboard can be a bit slow to appear but that happened in 9 as well on my phone.
Battery seems the same as before but it gets charged in the car on way to/from work so I really don't notice any drain.

Can you please explain the procedure you used to update the firmware, and also where you got the geniune firmware from?
Secondly, can you use this method to update from V8.2 directly to v10, or do you need to update to V9.0 and then V9.1 first?

Today I updated my Honor 8X JSN-L23 to Android 10 with EMUI 10.0.0.175. I have some friends with the same phone, with EMUI 9.1 and January 2020 security patch, but only my phone had the update via OTA.
I´m from Havana, Cuba. Honor 8X JSN-L23 is the Honor version for America.

Still nothing on JSN L21 C432. Neither emui 10, nor January security update.
